Anyone rethinking plans for the BH weekend

Just wondering how hard core you all are?

Do people cancel when the weather looks bad? We're planning on camping in Dorset from Sat.

Us too. We're planning to leave on Thursday. Is the weather forecast not good for the weekend ahead? Where in Dorset are you headed?

puddle · 22/08/2006 12:28

We are going to a farm near weymouth Beatie. No deposit though so we won't lose money if we don't go. Not been there before.

Altho have just checked the long range forecast on the bbc website and there's a big sun on Sat!

Us too - we're going to Malham (North Yorks) - forecast for Sat is sunny and 17 degrees - this is GOOD!

Note forecast for Dorchester (that's Dorset, right?) is 21 degrees and sunny. Is that a bad weather forecast down south

beatie · 22/08/2006 12:29

Oh Sh*t. Just looked at the 5 day forecast. It's even dubious that Thursday will be sunny. I hate the inconsistent weather. It seems like the end of August is always like this. I think they need to move the school holidays forward to cover June and July.

I don't mind the rain myself but it makes for a miserable trip when you have a baby.

beatie · 22/08/2006 12:30

jamiesam - your forecast looks better. Which one are you looking at? I'm sure yours is more accurate

beatie · 22/08/2006 12:33

No, I'm definitely getting rain for Thursday night and Friday for Dorset.

puddle · 22/08/2006 12:34

Sat looks ok though Beatie! Where are you going?

I'm cancelling my camping trip this bh! not hard-core but don't care

saltire · 22/08/2006 13:19

At least you mumsnetters in England and Wales still have your kids off school, so they can go away with you, ours went back today. Mind you, DH is off so he can take me for lunch

FunkyFred · 23/08/2006 10:18

hello! - regards the weather for Dorset, well I live in Dorset and today the weather is grotty - although not actually raining at the moment and I think the forecast for Friday is rubbish, BUT.. it depends at which forecast you look at. I've metchecked and for the Purbecks (where I live) it looks like some rain BUT for Weymouth, which is where we hope to camp this w/e it's not supposed to rain on Friday, but will possibly on Sunday night/Monday morning!.

I'm also in a quandry about whether or not to go, don't fancy putting the tent up in the rain with a teenager, 10 yo and 4 yo to help (OH is coming later as he's working Friday).

Wisp · 23/08/2006 10:34

Puddle, are you going to Ewelease by any chance ?

helsy · 23/08/2006 12:56

No, not cancelling though our forecast is for wind and rain from Friday - we're going to Anglesey for three days and had to pay upfront, non-refundable so if it rains that's tough! Mind you, I will be contacting (for the first time in over a year) my uncle and aunty, who live in the area, just in case...........

beatie · 24/08/2006 09:14

So, we're going to chase the sun and head east instead of West. It looks like we can go as far as Littlehampton/Angmering and find a few days of continuous sun (if the weather reports can be believed)
