Simple pitch v premium pitch - any advice?

I am just trying to book a campsite in France for 2 adults and a 12 year old. I am torn between the cost saving of a simple pitch and the availability of furniture, BBQ and fridge on the premium pitch. Can anyone give their opinions. Never having camped with the possibility of electricity before, can anyone tell me how this works - physics lesson of how electric works was not what I was after!

Electric on a campsite:

Let's look at your home first, behind the walls, under the floor there are electric wires, every now and again the wires come to the surface in the form of an electric socket. This is the same on a campsite except the wiring is underground and the socket is on a pole standing up from the ground.

On a normal - take your own tent - campsite this is all you will get and you have to provide your own "extension lead" to be able to use the electric.

I would imagine on an - everything is provided - campsite the tent is set up with the necessary leads and plugs to power the appliances that are in the tent

I've never had electric either but was totally swung by having a fridge on our first french camping trip. I would have gone premium for the furniture if the site we chose did it just for the car space.
Electric hook up is lower voltage than home so we'll use it for phone charging and my mum is lending me a low voltage little kettle. Then we won't use so much gas.(might manage a cuppa in bed too!)
We 're taking an electric hook up lead but I believe it varies as to whether it's a European plug or British. Sure someone more experienced will correct me if I'm wrong.
I also presume (with no experience or evidence) that the premium pitches will be in the best spots!

Oh and our campsite doesn't allow coal barbeques so it's either hire for €7 a day or buy a cadac safari! We've got a 3 year old and 18 month old so I'm not anticipating eating out every night. I only found out about the no coal rule through cross checking reviews and other booking organisation websites. It does not appear on the main site info.

Ok have booked the premium pitch am assuming the extension lead with socket on end needs to be kept dry and therefore needs to be fed into a tent. Am I right?

Now gas fridges, do these also need to be kept in a tent?
