and I'm already exhausted at the thought of pulling all this stuff together, then packing it, then loading the car! Camping relaxing?? Yeah, when you get there and pitch up but it's like army manoevres beforehand isn't it!

It will be worth it...

I'm not camped out yet - this is only our second year! I think this planning business is the exhausting part. What I should do is what I usually do and that is run around like a headless chicken the night before we leave, I work better under pressure. Hmmm, good idea..

Am also trying to think of dinners etc and all that. Note to self, stop thinking.....

But if I don't think about it, who will? DH? .

Kbear close to pre-camping hysteria

I'm off on Saturday...fo a whole week I kept the list from last time (good move).I've just dragged some of it up from the cellar...I hate this bit.
It will be worth it though...just hope the weather is good

KBear · 03/08/2006 21:31

It's not very warm today is it? Hope that's not summer over! I'm a fair weather camper.

Well I've got a HUGE spreadsheet in Excel that I can just reprint out when we want to go away for a weekend. Our maiden voyage is this weekend and I'm terrified we'll have forgotten something important - but the only thing we'll be leaving behind is the kitchen sink!

If it takes this much organisation for 2 nights - then our 4 nights later in the holidays is going to need us to take both cars

Troutpout · 04/08/2006 09:30

tbh...you take the same amount of stuff i find ...whether it's for a weekend or a week. Last time i thought it was too much work/organisation just for a weekend really.

Have fun GeorginaA...where are you going?

Troutpout · 04/08/2006 09:31

Shouldn't be on here...i've got soooooooooo much to do!

GeorginaA · 04/08/2006 09:38

Forest of Dean - only about an hour from home, but should be fun as long as it doesn't rain!!

GeorginaA · 04/08/2006 10:36

Argh - does it get easier and quicker to pack up stuff you need?!

fullmoonfiend · 04/08/2006 10:48

Been packing up for my boys who are off on a canal boat with grandparents. dh and I are going to go camping for a night on sunday night, but it is laughable how little stuff we need compared to when we take the boys.

tent, sleeping bags, stove, teabags
toothbrush
er that's it

fullmoonfiend · 04/08/2006 10:49

GeorginaA - what we do is when you get back, put all the camping stuff together in one place, then next time, you've only clothes to pack, and you won't be rushing round saying ''where did i put the torch?''

GeorginaA · 04/08/2006 11:06

laugh yes we've got a folding camper so as much stuff as we can leave in there we're going to. Couldn't afford to get much duplicated stuff yet though, so stuff like utensils, bedside lamp, bedding etc are all going to have to be put back in the respective homes on our return :/

Will gradually buy camper exclusive stuff I suppose!

GeorginaA · 04/08/2006 11:06

Haven't even started on the food yet ... argh!

KBear · 04/08/2006 13:17

bedside lamp????? WTF - No wonder you've got a spreadsheet on the go, I travel light by comparison!!!

fullmoonfiend - dh and I go camping for our wedding anniversary every year. Part of the luxury is only taking a tiny bit of luggage - and the small tent which takes 5 minutes to put up. Bliss.

alligator · 04/08/2006 13:25

aaaaaahhhhhhhh teabags Knew there ws somethng I was forgetting. thanks

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 04/08/2006 13:36

It's just practice, I can do it for 5 9as I discovered last tie whn I couldn't be arsed to start) in under two hours now. We tend to keep all camping stuff together, under the stairs, so it doesn't take long at all. Food normally bought there (fish and chips forst night), tho not on short breaks

GeorginaA · 04/08/2006 14:15

Bedside lamp is a home beside lamp. We have a folding camper and no other light source besides torches I didn't fancy going to bed at sunset
