Anyone have the Hi gear kalahari 10-10

Iam looking at getting a big tent so we can go away for several weeks over the summer. I have a 5m soulpad which is great for short breaks, but with 6 kids and a dog space is a bit tight. Most of our breaks have been 'weather forecast looks great, lets go' so haven't really had to face downpours with everyone in the tent.

I am looking at the kalahari 10-10 with porch. It's in budget, has enough space for all of us. But is it awful? I am wondering if its too cheap? Has anyone had one? Can they recommend it or something that size for similar price.

We bought one last year, we have 5 DCs and its a good size with a decent amount of living space to bedrooms, especially with the porch - in fact I wouldn't consider it without the porch.

It's nice and easy to put up with 2 adults (although we struggled to figure out how to throw the tethers for the porch over to the other side until my SIL showed us that you walk them round each end - duh!) and it seemed good enough quality for the money.

If you camp a lot or for long periods it may be a bit lightweight, but for the odd weekend through the Spring and Summer it is ideal. We also bought the footprint to keep the base of the tent clean and to help with positioning. It seems like a lot of money (about £30?) for a large groundsheet, but it is really handy so I'd definitely recommend that.

We're thinking about spending a few weeks down in swanage over the summer, will it be fine?

The soulpad is my easy to pitch on my own tent. When I take just the children and not dh lol.

We took one of these to the Dordogne last summer, it's a great tent. My only caveat is that it's very large and not every campsite will be able to accommodate it.

Worth checking that out!
