I'm thinking of buying a caravan - any advice very welcome.

Thinking of getting a 2 berth caravan for me and dd. We used to enjoy camping but I can't be arsed with the faff of tents and sleeping on the ground any longer. Used to have a campervan which I miss.

I know next to nothing about caravans. Have been looking at some on the Glossop caravan website and they seem to have a good selection.

Is there anything I need or must avoid?

I'd be looking at second hand so how long do they last for? I read to expect a ten year lifetime but Glossops are selling some which are already 10 years old which look to be in great condition.

I've towed a water jetter before so although not as big as a caravan I've got some idea what to do. I don't know if I'd ever be able to reverse with one though. Would think about doing a towing course to improve my confidence.

Hi, this had dropped off my threads I'm on but have just seen it again.

Am currently in caravan, first night sleeping in it. Towing was ok even in the wind. Wind was about 30mph so not as bad as some places.

The warden here walked to the pitch and directed me in and I got the caravan in first time with him shouting left hand down, etc.

I've found out I can't move the caravan by pulling it at all. Even with dh this morning we could barely move it to hitch up. Ended up having to reverse right to directly under the hitch thingy. Am not looking forward to trying that again on Monday with only dd to direct me. I have got a reversing mirror with me though so will have to attach that to the car.

Worked everything out ok apart from the heater. Had to get the man next door round to tell me why the heater was only blowing out cold air. I hadn't switched the fan heater switch in the electric cupboard on! Duh.

I'd love a motor mover but I'm towing at 92% so daren't add the weight of one.
