Where to go camping in Scotland?

I know Scotland is a pretty big country

Planning to do some walking around Ben Nevis and maybe go up it health allowing but we don't want to spend all of our time there and would like to do a two centre camping holiday followed by a couple of days in Edinburgh. We can't work out where our second base should be? We love wildlife and would love to maybe see seals or dolphins or something dd quite fancies the Loch Ness.

Any thoughts or suggestions please? We don't need posh but clean loos and campsites that go quiet at night are our preference.

How about camping near Oban on the west coast. You could visit islands, go walking, eat fantastic seafood, and go on boat trips to watch seals and other wildlife.

We camped here on Arran ages years ago! lovely site, basic but clean. Lots to do on Arran. Good for weather watching too!

Isle of Skye is lovely- Glen Brittle is the windiest place ever, but there's a campsite on a sea cliff on the north of the island that's fab, and you get white nights in June.

Theres a campsite on the banks of Loch Ness that was lovely (though I think it changed hands) where you camp right on the edge of the loch.

The campsite on Loch Lomond (I think CC site) has baths- actual baths in the women's sectin- that was a luxury after probably the wettest 2 weeks camping ever

How about Ardnamurchan? This is in our village - just under 2 hours from Fort William and a good chance of seeing seals, porpoises, otters and sea eagles (if you can sit still for long enough!). It is quite small and basic but is kept really well and you can pitch on the shore. Or if you don't want to travel so far west, I've always thought Resipole looks lovely. It just feels a bit too close to home for us to try it!

Rosemarkie Beach.

The campsite is right on the beach and you can watch dolphins from your tent. Best campsite in the world.

Arisaig or Morar. Also, you can wild camp in Scotland if you choose to.

Embo is beautiful, campsite right by the beach, has clean shower block! My kids absolutely love it there and it is a good place to go off to see other things...they saw salmon leaping at Shin Falls, Seals sunbathing, and went looking for dolphins. They also searched for Nessie but she had gone home for her tea.

Just remember the midges....

Big Sand by Gairloch in Wester Ross is beautiful, just over the dunes to a huge sandy beach. Also it's almost always breezy which keeps the wee buggers away to a certain extent.

The East Coast is also less of a midge problem.
