Hi all, trying to plan a summer holiday - two families, two caravans, five children aged 8-15 between us- decision has been made on the Gironde as should be far enough south for decent weather? I've been to Saint Emilion and liked it. Not sure about Bordeaux, not familiar with it.
Baffled with choice of sites on internet and wondering if anyone has experience to share? Thanks.

An hour notrth of Bordeaux, We went to la palmyre last year which we loved. Safe beaches for kids due to the peninsular. Stayed at camping atlantique which was good, a couple of km out of town. We hired bikes for the whole stay, fab cycle paths, we only used the car once to buy winery bring home. Neighbouring town of Saint palais sur mer also lovely, spent a day there and have friends who stayed there are loved it

Easy drive from Caen, went back from Cherbourg which took longer, roads less good, we did night crossing to Caen and drive straight down in about 5.5 hours.
