Campsites Anglesey / North Wales for August ????

We're planning to take our trailer tent up to North Wales in August. Have only visited Anglesey once but thought it was beautiful as was the coast we drove along to get there. We're going up that way to be in the vicinity for a family event in Chester, so don't want to be too far away from there. Can anyone recommend good campsites. We like clean, basic sites with walking access to a beach. Any top tips? Thanks

Hi, 2 sites I can recommend would be:

The Plassey, Wrexham - 5 star campsite lovely and clean and lovely litlle shops on site with swimming pool etc.

Home Farm, Anglesey - Again fantastically rated site.

Both of the sites have websites so you can have a look into them more and also worth a look on ukcampsite for further recommendations.

Thanks Janbo. I'll take a look at those

I take it she's a North Wales camping expert. I'll search for her contributions. Thanks for the tip!

Katsh, you need to try Tyddyn Isaf just up the coast from Moelfre at lligwy bay.

It's not a basic site but it's 'bar' is well away from the camping field and is more like a tiny country pub! there is a private footpath to the beach (10 min walk with a 3 year old). the toilets/showers are great and there is a play park area set into the hillside.
It is quite slopey though, so ask for as flat a pitch as they can give you!

Can also recommend Home Farm - flowers in the toilets!

Forgot to add, they now have a webcam! the view is down the site to the bay from the bar terrace - it looks a way away but isn't - honest

Thanks LucyCampCat. Site looks great. We've just booked for Aberafon, near Caernarvon, but I'll keep the details of yours for next years holiday!

We've booked the St David's in Red Wharf Bay Anglesey for bank holiday weekend - anyone been there? (Couldn't get in to Tyddyn Isaf or Home Farm).

Red Wharf Bay is a lovely place.
There is Riverside Camping near me (Caernarfon) which is lovely.
Cafe and grpunds are so nice,we often go there for lunch.
Slightly easier to get to Chester too.
Will do link....

we are going aberafon in august too

Katsh · 26/07/2006 09:34

Thanks everyone. All the sites look great, but unfortunately for us at this late notice not many have any pitches left! However Aberafon looks good. If this year goes well, I'm sure we'll be back to North Wales again. No. 5 looking forward to trying to guess who you are . Have you been to Aberafon before?

Yes, i have been there before. If you like quite time on your own its ideal. But busy during weekends. Love the small beach, lovely sunsets at night. Very low key and short listed but great spot, with river runs thru. Well you can tell i like this place. I dont like places with bars and lot. I have already paid deposit. Beach field and top field quite windy with you got little one, recommend first field, middle field or on the ducks. I suppose you already booked duh
Hope to see you too, well try to guess too
