North Norfolk - is it nice and where could we stay?

Want to go away for a weekedn with DH and DS and someone mentioned North Norfolk being nice. Would like:
beach
nice place to stay
nice places to eat
don't need to get in the car to go everywhere (so can have a beer wioth lunch

and, call me a snob but my idea of nice definitely does not involve amusements/ theme parks/ kiss me quick hats!!

Any advice??

How about Sheringham, nice small seaside town, definitely not tacky or have you considered Suffolk instead? There are lots of lovely seaside places in Suffolk, e.g. Southwold, Walberswick (both very nice, and unspoilt, but can be expensive) or Aldeburgh (good fish and chips!)?

Am in NOttingam and want somewhere close and coastal!

North Norfolk is gorgeous.
Wells-next-the-sea and Blakeney are beautiful...and Sheringham and Cromer are quite nice too (but much more pier and rock affairs).
There is a campsite at Wells called Pinewoods (i think) which allows you to book a beach hut too. Never been there, but i like the look of it. We are going to Manor farm (just outside Cromer) for a week at the beginning of August.

You can't book the Wells campsite in advance for tents....you have to arrive and hope for the best....not ideal in the peak season IMHO

the Lincolnshire coast would be closer.. North Norfolk is likely to be very busy at the weekend since it is going to be very hot.

I live in Lincoln, but prefer Norfolk. Been to Mablethorpe and Skeggy but didn't like either that much.

I agree North Norfolk is nice - but from Nottingham the thought of the A47/A17 on a hot Saturday in July does not appeal - especially when it is crawling iwth people when you get there. Just thought if you wanted somewhere a bit more off the beaten track then the Lincolnshire coast might be a better option (at least at this time of year ).

Sounds like Wells area would suit (but it will be crowded - at least in the car parks- but the beach is huge).

Whick isn't very far from wells, and is close to you.

Not been before, but it gets good revies at UK campsite

Kelling Heath may be an option.

Don't know much about campsites in Sheringham, as used to live there, so no need of a campsite - you can definitely camp just along the cost in West Runton - a short walk along the cliff into Sheringham. Sheringham is a lovely town, the first week in August is carnival week so there would be a lot going on - carnival parade on the Wednesday night, and a funfair on the main car park, but not all kiss me quick hats and theme parks which say Great Yarmouth is. If you decide to goto Sheringham I can recommend some lovely restaurants, and a few things to do. The beach is golden sand, lovely for sandcastle digging, but there is only sand for part of the day due to the tides - Runton has sand all day. Hope you have a lovely time wherever in N Norfolk you choose to go - if my parents didn't still live there I would camp in S-ham

The campsite at Stiffkey is bliss - but you must keep it secret or else it will be spoilt! Very basic (no bar, thank god) and you can walk to the pub in the village. It is right on the sand marshes so fantastic walks.
