We're off to Poole for 5 days in August and are looking for a good site, a mixture of adultas and children and also tents and caravans

We are camping in this area in August, we have booked 'Toms Field', but since we haven't been there yet I don't know if it is any good. There is a huge choice in the area you want, so the best I can suggest is decide what facilities you want and have a look at this

We are going to Pear Tree, which is 5 miles west of Poole have a look here

although you may have to book for a whole week in some places in August.

We thought about this one - Organford Manor the reviews seem ok, might be worth thinking about, do you prefer quiet sites or busy?

Janbo25 · 26/06/2006 18:41

I like something in between don't like really busy but not to quiet either The Plassey in Wrexham is ideal so something like that would be an idea

DelGirl · 26/06/2006 18:46

this is supposed to be quite good here

DelGirl · 26/06/2006 18:47

it's not all owners btw, I know you can take your own tent etc.

Janbo25 · 27/06/2006 17:40

will i be able to book for just 3 nights there?

East Fleet is FAB!!

We stayed there last year, and have booked to stay again in August.

Janbo25 · 29/06/2006 19:27

oh great please could you tell me more, when in august are you going?

19th to 28th.

Not sure where to start,

The kids loved the site, DD1(11yo) and Ds(8yo) took DD2 (2yo) for a walk while DH and I put the tent up. They were really excited when they came back as they'd helped feed the donkey, stroked the horse and played in the 'park'.

We were pitched in the field on the right hand side as you drive in, which was flat and next to a field full of cows. When we arrived and were shown our pitch we didn't like it, it was on quite a slope, so we asked to move somewhere flatter. They took us round the site in their 'golf buggy' to choose another pitch.

There was very little noise in the evenings, there's a country pub on site, and a small shop which sells the basics.

We'll be doing the same as we did last year

Go into Weymouth (quite a few times) to doss on the beach, great for kids.
Watch the Punch & Judy show on the beach.
Sea Life Centre
Pirate Golf
DH and DS went to the Tank Museum at Bovington while the girls and I got the train from nearby Bovington and went shopping in Poole.

CAT me with your email address if you like and I'll send you some pictures.
