Blacks have got an offer on the internet for this weekend only which means you can get the Outwell Montana 6 for £195 + delivery I don't think anywhere else will be able to match that do you?

Fantastic price!

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 19:24

I know the only thing is we have booked to go away next weekend but delivery will probably be 10 days!!

OP posts:
Blandmum · 18/06/2006 19:26

we paid more than this of the outwell colerado last year , and we picked that up ourselves. This is a good price and a fantastic tent.

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 19:30

I'm not sure whether to cancel the campsite now as it will still work out cheaper

OP posts:
LucyCampCat · 18/06/2006 19:36

Can you contact them and tell them you are going away? They may be able to organise faster delivery for you if you're willing to pay. and at that price you can afford to!

Go for it - at least you'll have got it cheaper than your friends Wink

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 19:38

I have just rang them and unfortunately they said they can't offer it any quicker, it may be here sooner but they are unable to guarantee!!, I have began to email a few places to see if they can offer a price match??

OP posts:
LucyCampCat · 18/06/2006 20:14

Go Outdoors will beat the price, as long as it's the same model, year etc!

and you could go and pick it up!

We bought our Colorado from Cotswold last year and then found it cheaper at Go Outdoors. Cotswold price matched it and we got a refund of £85!!

LucyCampCat · 18/06/2006 20:18

Is it cheaper than \link{http://www.blacks.co.uk/blacks.storefront/Product.aspx?CS_ProductID=094862(BLG+Base+Catalog)&CatalogNavigationBreadCrumbs=Blacks+Summer+Virtual%3bBLK+SS06+Tents+and+Camping+Gear(BLG+Base+Catalog)%3bBLK+SS06+Group+and+Family+Tents(BLG+Base+Catalog)\this?} I can't see the offer you described, am I looking in the wrong place?

Even at this price it's £100 cheaper than Go Outdoors!

Mercy · 18/06/2006 20:23

Am about to buy hte Montana 4. When you go to checkout they take a further £20 off!!!!!

Hence the deal

LucyCampCat · 18/06/2006 20:24

oh yes just seen the advert for an extra £50 off when you spend £200 durrrr Wink

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 20:26

do you think go outdoors will match this price then??

OP posts:
LucyCampCat · 18/06/2006 20:30

Their blurb would indicate so

The Tent Price Promise Promotion
GOoutdoors will beat any UK price on our entire tent range! Tent must be like for like (make, model and year). Proof of the selling price at the other store will be required. Delivery charges are considered part of the price for comparison purposes. This means the other stores tent price plus it's delivery charge to post that tent is the final price we will match (our matched price will be inclusive of delivery charge too!). Tents must be available and ready to dispatch with other companies.

so yes I would say so, but if you want one from Blacks then I'd get in sharpish, loads of people on Uk Camping have ordered them!

marthamoo · 18/06/2006 20:33

I really want to cry now. Bollocks bollocks bollocks.

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 20:34

The offer ends tomorrow with blacks I intend to go to one of there big stores near me tomorrow to see if they have got the same deal instore

OP posts:
LucyCampCat · 18/06/2006 20:42

It's only the extra £50 that ends tomorrow isn't it? the tent price will still be £245.99 so you'll be able to do a deal with Go Outdoors.

Mercy · 18/06/2006 20:45

Ok just ordered the Montana 4 for £172 plus a few pennies.

Offer ends tomorrow

LucyCampCat · 18/06/2006 20:45

marthamoo - is yours still in the bag? can you phone Camperlands in the morning and tell them you are returning the tent as you can get it massively cheaper elsehwere and see what they see - no harm in asking!

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 20:48

I wonder if anywhere will honour the promotion as well?

OP posts:
marthamoo · 19/06/2006 10:38

Lovely, lovely Camperlands - who clearly are the best camping shop in the world (and I will tell everyone so from now on) have just agreed to refund £124 to our account to match Blacks' price (they said they couldn't match it initially but when I started making "returning the tent" noises they agreed Grin)

So I've gone from a very, very peed off moo who wished she had never seen this thread to an extremely happy moo who would like to buy Janbo25 a big drink.

And I told my bessie mate Troutpout about the Blacks' deal (because I knew they were in the market for a new tent) and she has bought one too! So now we can have matching Monties when we go camping together (and I can smile happily and not through gritted teeth at the thought that hers was £124 cheaper than mine).

So...result! Thanks Smile

BROWNY · 19/06/2006 10:50

Marthamoo, congratulations on making a fuss!! Well Done you!!

We've got this tent too, we've just arrived home from a few days camping in Worcestershire, the weather was perfect and the tent was a perfect size for my four children and my hubby and I.

It takes two people under 10 minutes to put it up, and causes no marital arguments because it's so easy! Hope you have a lovely summer camping! Smile

willow2 · 19/06/2006 10:53

Ok camper gurus - the Willow family are just about to dip their toe into the camping world... should we go for this tent? There are three of us. We have never been camping as a family - in fact, can't rmeember last time I put a tent up. You all seem to think this is a cracking bargain and it looks a decent size - big, but not too big - but is it a good one for newbies and, if so, why? Answers asap please - as don't want to miss the deal deadline!

marthamoo · 19/06/2006 11:13

It's a fantastic tent, willow - and such a good price. My only reservation in recommending it to you is that it may be a little big for three of you (mind you, there's only 4 of us). But as it's a doddle (allegedly) to put up and everyone on MN advised me to get bigger than you need...

How big is your car though? It comes in two big and heavy bags (tent in one, poles in the other). We've just bought a roof box too as the tent takes up a lot of space in the boot (we have a Rover 820, so it has a massive boot). Have you looked at its little brother - the Montana 4?

martianbishop (who is something of a camping guru) reckons the Montana 6 is the dog's bolleaux, if that helps Grin

Thanks, Browny, I am very proud of myself as I am a total wimp out when it comes to stuff like this - but it was so much money! Can't wait to tell dh.

LucyCampCat · 19/06/2006 13:04

I'm really pleased for you martha - glad I suggested phoning them now - mine's a pint please! Wink

So what are you going to spend the extra £124 on? Grin

beatie · 19/06/2006 18:09

Would we be mad to buy this tent when we only have a mondeo and no roof box? Our current 4 birth tent is small and doesn't take up much boot space. We thought we'd get the Montana 4 but it seems sensible to get the larger tent so that we don't have to get another one in the future as the family grows.

We're not planning more children, just expecting them to grow bigger!

marthamoo · 19/06/2006 22:28

If I ever meet you, lucy, I will definitely buy you a pint Smile Well, I guess it pays for the roof box which arrived today and we need because of buying such a big tent Grin

beatie, the extra £50 has ended now at Blacks -though it's free delivery and still a better price than anywhere else I've seen - but this tent is big. The dimensions of the bags are on the site so I would weigh it up carefully before you buy - we were a little taken aback at just how much bootspace it takes up.
