Best campsite in Isle of Wight for first first time campers

After much research and deliberation (some if it on this camping forum- you guys are great!) we have finally bought our first family tent. This is going to be our first camping trip on our own. We are thinking of camping in the Isle of Wight for a week, starting next weekend.

Has anyone camped in the IOW? Any recommendations for good campsites? Good loos and showers are a must. Campsites that allow campfires would be an added bonus. I would like our first camping trip to be a success in order to keep DH on board for future camping trips.

Also, is one week long enough for the IOW? It's a pretty small island and I'm hoping that there is enough activities for us to do and not get bored.

It does look like it might be windy though on the cliff , I'd love to camp there!

Adgestone! We went there for three consecutive years. Fantastic campsite ... Lovely showers and loos (kept very clean). Has a swimming pool, little shop, small fish and chip shop on site, swings etc for the CDs. You most certainly won't get bored ... Blackgang chine, robin hill (they are sister parks so you can buy a ticket which lets you get into both parks, or if you buy a normal ticket you can return as many times as you like for 7 days. There's Dinosaur Isle, then the zoo is only a bit further down the road, Seaview Wildlife centre, plenty of places to go horseriding, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House ... Can you tell I love the island?! One place I wouldnt recommend is Languard (or something similar) ... Friend went there and said it was awful .. not well looked after and dirty. Hope you find somewhere!

Thanks Positive I've just sent you a PM.

Captain I've shortlisted that campsite but it is a coastal location and someone said that it can get very windy on the coast?

Valuim what a fab suggestion, thank you. My DS is going to love mackerel fishing.

Thank you all for your fab suggestions x

You need to book the fishing asap as it's popular. On the sea front a ventnor there is a cafe on your left if you are facing the sea called besties and spinkys, or something of, anyway, go in there to book!

Valium I can't book the fishing trip online as I can't find the cafe that you've mentioned..... looking at trip adviser reviews it seems that there has been a change of ownership in the cafe.
