Please recommend a family tent for festivals

We are hoping to try out a festival next year. Not sure which but considering carfest, camp bestival or maybe a smaller one. I saw a post on here about one in Lewes which looked good. So with this in mind I think we may need to buy a smaller tent. I have been looking at the Vango Icarus 6000 or maybe the 5000. I'm also quite keen on the Outwell Nevada MP. Will they be big enough for a family of 5. Any other suggestions? We aren't the best at travelling light but I am full of good intentions in that department!

Anyone? I wondered about pop up tents but found it challenging enough getting a beach shelter back in its bag!

We have an Icarus 6000 and were pleased with it. Easy to put up, weather proof, lots of space. If anything, found it a little big but we are four rather than five so I'm sure you would appreciate the extra space. Actually, maybe it was a 5000, as we ended up getting a something a bit smaller last year (as had to carry it on a train) and got a Gelert Atlantis 4. If you don't need it until next year I would see if you can find a showroom anywhere near you that has some tents put up, so you can get a better idea of space etc. You don't have to buy there but easier to get an idea of what suits you that way.

Thanks BoBoo. Very tempted by the Icarus. We won't need it until next year so I thought I would keep an eye out in the sales.

That festival in Lewes might be Elderflower Fields? If so, I would highly recommend it - we went this year and will be going again next year (assuming it is on - fingers crossed).

As to family tents for festivals, there is no doubt family pop ups are becoming more popular - so popular in fact that I don't think you would find it hard to find someone who could help you put it back in the bag if you did struggle Grin

Or you could do like us and get a bell tent. Ours takes us 10/15 minutes to put up and only involves one pole and an A frame so is easy to put up and take down. And it looks great. They are also becoming very popular at festivals so if you do get one, you might want to get distinctive bunting or a flag pole to find it again.

Thanks MPFT. Yes that is the festival. I will keep an eye out for next year. I am sooooo tempted by a bell tent but I wondered if it would be too big for a festival - I think we would need a 5m one. It also has quite a hefty price tag.

They are pricey these days sadly and seem to hold their value on eBay. They are not too big though I don't think. We have a 5m one and found a spot in a very full field at Chilled in a field festival the other week. Tbh, you get massive tents at festivals now, especially family ones.
