help campsite with facilites with out the

I'm trying to find a campsite for the holidays which is walking distance to a beach, has nice facilites but no "organised fun" I want the kids to get back to nature without getting back to Butlins

Northam Farm or Warren Farm in Brean Sands. Both got good websites. Haven site at Prestatyn you can walk directly onto a lovely beach.

We've just got back from the West coast of Scotland where we had campfires on the lochside, the children ran free and had loads of adventures, the sun shone (yes it did!!) and it was the most relaxing holiday I could have wished for. The kids had so much freedom they were so happy and didn't watch tv for two weeks.

thanks but i think we want somewhere a bit smaller, no bars or function rooms ideally

wow, The Scottish sitw looks really gorgeous, we live in the south though and dh says no way are we spending that long in the car with fighting children! the search goes on...

Check out the reviews on uk campsite. It's a lovely site and as it'a affliated to a couple of others, there is the option to go and use a pool if you choose. No bar although there is of course the pub on the beach!

Tell your DH he's a wuss, buy a dvd player for the kids and go go go . We're in London - takes 12 hours with stops every 2-3 hours. 560 miles door to door. Worth every mile when you get there.

I camped at Dennis cove in Padstow in cornwall - it is beautiful, just good showers, toilets and only about a 10 minute walk in to padstow for all your groceries etc. it's on the camel trail and you can hire bikes.
My only reservation would be that my mum told me last week that it was apparantly voted THE best campsite in the UK (for location, views etc), so it could well be mobbed now.

sorry forgot to say it is situated on the estuary but you can walk to Padstow beach in about 20 minutes or get the Ferry to Rock from the centre of Padstow, which takes about 10 minutes across the estuary.

or also we are booked at cardigan bay, they don't have a site but go to ukcampsite dot com, and search for it by the name- really nice and a caravan and camping club site, so should meet all their standards.

Consider joining canravan and camping club.... they give you discounts at this sort of site.

We did carlyon Bay campsite on recommendation of a MN. It was fab, walk to a beach albeit stoney. But nice site. Yes there is a bit of enetertianment, but if you consider a one hour kids disco on the patio too much then sorry. \link{http://www.carlyonbay.net\here}

Caravan club allow you to soty by things like near to beach, near to town, no bar etc etc. But againyou have to be a member.

We just joined though, £33 a year and family discounts, plus a lot more chance of last minute bookings- well worth every penny (some sites that we re officially full still open to members)
