We have a large number I surplus canvas Icelandic tents from our guide equipment.
We're in Poole, Dorset and need to get rid of them but they're too good to dump.

Any interest?

I've now googled them and I'd love one but you're too far away for me. Rats.

MrsCosmopilite · 03/08/2013 15:13

Too far from me. Try local freecycle/preloved sales places?

StrawberryMonkey · 03/08/2013 15:21

Are they being re-homed free of charge? If so, v interested! Smile

Wowweere
We'd LOVE one. It's be perfect for our annual family picnic when it always rains

I could get to Poole quite easily...

LarryMcNue · 03/08/2013 15:44

Ahem
Woweeee
Is what I meant

GigiDarcy · 03/08/2013 16:10

If I was on the right side of the country I would love one, I remember camping in one as a guide. Have you considered ebay? Had a quick look and they seem to go for £50 ish each?

neddle · 03/08/2013 16:21

We need to get rid of them fairly quickly. Happy to give away but if you wanted to give a donation we wouldn't say no.

We're in Broadstone if anyone was interested enough to come today?

PM'd you Neddle

OK, we have 3 very good tents, 1 good and 1 not so good. All complete with poles, wooden pegs and malletts. We also have some fly sheets with poles which can go over the top of the tent for added protection.

We're at St John's Church, Macauley Road, Broadstone and we'll be there between 5 and 8 tomorrow evening.

If anyone wants to come and get one, please come; we're not selling them, they're free, but if you wanted to give a donation then that would be lovely.

Background

We were told a couple of months ago that they suspected woodworm in the loft where we kept half of our equipment. They wanted to get everything out to treat it and they hoped we could reduce the amount of space we used.
It then transpired that there was no woodworm but they still wanted the stuff sorted. We've acquired equipment from closed units and never shifted our old tents when we bought new ones. We see their point and are willing to sort as we need to do that anyway.
Today, half the adults come home from camp, we planned to get everything out, sorting into piles as we did so. When we arrived, it was all out for us, but apparently due to a risk assessment, we can no longer store it in the loft.
We're no looking for alternate storage; we may be able to get a bigger shed than we have currently to store it - but we have a week to sort it out Hmm.

Anyway, if you want a tent, come tomorrow, we may not be able to hold them for long.

Hi Neddle!
I'm in your area and would be interested.
Which colour canvas are they and what is the foot print size?
Thanks :)

neddle · 03/08/2013 23:27

They're green, but I've no idea how big they are.

We would say that you could sleep maybe 4-6 girls?

Have you asked any local scout groups?

SeaShellsMyDogTrulySmells · 04/08/2013 21:19

Did they all go?
