Does anyone know what time the fireworks are on? We need to drive back to London on Sunday and were hoping to see them but worried about it being too late
Am vv excited we are going to be from Hawaii

Montypig · 31/07/2013 21:01

Grokle - it's amazing - really wonderful

We have no dressing up - will we be shunned ?

Is there a Mumsnet tent ?

andiem · 31/07/2013 21:04

We should have one Grin

Montypig · 31/07/2013 21:31

I am on for one ! Actually we do have dressing up available here. It's called mud.

Grockle · 31/07/2013 21:34

Think the fireworks were 10 or 10.30 but they last quite a long time. You MUST stay though. Lots of people left after them last year.

We should have a MN tent!

IHeartKing, the Met office reckons hot day tomorrow then 3 warmish days. I'm sticking with their forecast but have packed for pretty much every eventuality!

andiem · 31/07/2013 21:42

Thanks grockle that's fine time wise glad to hear loads leave then so we won't be the only ones scurrying out

Tiredtrout · 31/07/2013 21:52

We are having to leave Sunday night too, all packed, cookies are in the oven, fairy cakes still to go, trying to persuade older two to go to bed early. And I've got a wine box in the freezer ready to chill my cool bag! So excited!

shirazplease · 31/07/2013 22:02

Right, the car's packed 'ish. There's no food in it yet, and absolutely no space for it. Argh. Spot for the cool box though which will be housing the wine. Priorities.

We're camping in France Bunt, taking the tent straight from Besti. #mustbemad

We'll be one of the last campers to leave on Monday as our ferry isn't until Tues morn, and we can't check into our hotel in Portsmouth until 2.

BRING IT ON!!!

IHeartKingThistle · 31/07/2013 23:51

Fingers crossed Grockle!

Should we all wear a carnation or something so we can wave at each other?

BuntCadger · 01/08/2013 06:28

Love the idea of mumsnet tent :)) I will be frequenting the wi tent for cakes.

Car packed and couldn't fit several things. Couldn't fit camping stove, so no longer planning to cater of evening meals and will eat out every night. Couldn't fit maclaren so dh will be carrying 5yo. Couldn't fit camping chars either! So have a picnic blanket and hoping for best!

Just remembered I've not packed a brolly! X

shirazplease · 01/08/2013 06:47

Woop woop Budge! I've been awake since 5 with excitement!

Going to regret that later!

BuntCadger · 01/08/2013 07:26

Lol yup Shiraz Grin but at least you get wine.

shirazplease · 01/08/2013 07:43

Haha! Last time I did camp bestival 2 years ago, I was about 14 weeks pregnant. You have my sympathies!

On the plus side, your head will be just fine in the morning

Grin
Tiredtrout · 01/08/2013 08:59

I did big bestival last year while pregnant, no headaches and less toilet trips in the night, was very strange. Nearly ready to set off just waiting for elder dd to sort her make up collection out

Grockle · 05/08/2013 00:20

We just got home. Exhausted... my bed never felt so good!

Hope all of you survived & had a fabulous time.

Lowlights for the Grockles: Camping Plus shit showers & no working toilets Shock, the man smoking weed at 9.30 am on Friday morning at the kids workshop. I totally expect it at a festival & am not bothered but that just seemed a little too much, even for me!

Highlights: Kate Tempest, Scroobius Pip & Polar Bear (wow!), Skinny Lister, The Proclaimers Blush and The Levellers/ And the fireworks, obviously! And the food. The FOOD! YBF tent was amazing & I already want to go back next year to try more new things. Also, the mothers on the mat next to me discussing the vile graffiti in the toilets...' they're organic composting toilets, dontcha know?' Grin

Feeling happy, lucky & a little bit buzzy.

Did anyone hear Alan Davies talk about Mumsnet? 'I go on there every day...'

We got home last night, it was so amazing, we all had a wonderful time. Our tent neighbours were so lovely and helped us when our tent collapsed on the first night. Hope the people who got burnt by the tent fire are ok

Wasnt it fab !

Now, I am so not a fan of Justin and his wretched gigglebiz ( like Mr Tumble tho') but it was incredible to see a full field of yelling toddlers ....

We only managed to do about 1/3 of what we had planned - just have to go back next year

Grockle · 05/08/2013 12:38

I feel a bit cheated... so much to do but it whizzed by & I missed loads.

We loved it. My ds 6 said it was the best thing he'd ever done! Highlights for us were billy brag, horrible histories, wagamama rave tent, insect circus, the proclaimers, ybf tent, comedy 4 kids, eddie the eagle in guardian tent ( really enjoywd lots of stuff in there), wall of death, grandmaster flash, labyrinth, disco hut and actually loads more. Low point, none really except we were in tangerine fields and the grass was really long and covered in nettles. I had short grass envy of all the other campers ( never had grass envy before!). We missed loads though . One last good thing, the 10p glass amndcan return at bar. My dd made about £8!!

IHeartKingThistle · 05/08/2013 17:57

We had an awesome time! The look on ds' face when he saw the knights jousting was priceless Smile.

I'm presuming the couple who rammed me with their wagon, hurt my leg and then glared at me as I disentangled myself were nothing to do with any of you Wink.

smellylittleorange · 05/08/2013 17:59

Back had a brill time was so much more relaxed this year, toilets and showers fine for me queued Max 5 mins for loo and 35 for showers, food was amazeballs especially the cake WI and Hummingbird. Loved all the music and just dancing like a loony in a field. Omg to The Proclaimers and Skinny Lister and Labyrinth and Dick and Dom. Lows were just not having enough time to do everything also dd9 loved the workshops. Just about to have a bath but did I mention I had two showers. Yes yes to mumsnet tent and hi to Alan, maybe pop over to style and beauty and ask about Argan oil for your locks luv .

PoppyWearer · 05/08/2013 19:30

Also back here (didn't find this thread earlier). My hair braid has fallen out and we are all clean (well, it's relative with the toddler). Festi-holiday over. Hmm

Had a great time as always although (weren't the dinosaurs amazing?) won't miss the toilet queues (worse than before or did I imagine that?) and expensive food. Will be back though! I had serious trolley/fancy dress-envy. Must. Try. Harder.

Envy At the couple who got married and celebrated their wedding there, what a great thing to do! And you have to love the Cuban Brothers.

Grockle · 05/08/2013 23:45

The toilets was ridiculous. BEcause I have mobility issues & DS has some urinary issues, I paid for the posh flushing loos with running water. No queue at all & right by the castle stage. I hate that I had to pay £25 to have a toilet close by without having to wait 10 mins for a wee.
