We're camping this weekend. First time with a baby!

And I'm already exhausted from getting everything ready to pack!

DD1 is 3.5 and dd2 is 8 months. I hope dd2 loves it as much as dd1. We've no experience of camping with a baby-baby. dd1 was 20 months when we took her for the first time.

Those who have camped with babies...... do you put your baby to bed at their usual time? dd1 and dd2 usually go to bed at the same time but I suspect dd1 will be staying up later. Will the voices of playing children disturb the baby?

Anyway, wish us luck! :)

You must let us know how it goes with baby - sleep, heat etc I'd be interested to know. camping was no problem for us with dd1 now 3 last uear but we now have 7 month old too.

beatie · 09/06/2006 08:02

Duvet - we will do. People tend to think you're mad when you say you're camping with a baby. I hope I can prove them wrong.

our first camping trip is 19th july with 2yo and 8 month old.....

Babies are great to take away, hope you all have a lovely time. I found that it was hardest when they started crawling (muddy!!) and then easier again when they started walking.. Still, all good fun (just not exactly a "rest"!)

we went camping last year when DD was 8 months old and she loves it as we took her big sister with us and also there was a little boy with us too (friends son). i make sure DD was in her playpen as she only started to cruised around and at the end of the nite, they were all flat out!! whilst we all was having a bevvy and a good laugh

i'm curious- we are thinking about camping with our lad. In a small tent will a sleeping bag be enough to stop a toddler wandering about? Toying with cycle touring camping this time next year when boy will be 1.3.

Nemo1977 · 11/06/2006 18:50

well DD was fab with the camping as was ds(2.7) Definetly going again mid july and cant wait.

duvet · 11/06/2006 20:45

We ended up going too for one night, only thing is the amount of time it takes to pack the car. DD's slept all night but baby awake at 5am! It was great being out butglad to get home to own bed again.

We went to Gwynant it's lovely by the lake there great to cool down.

Hi there, just booked to go camping start of August when DD will be 13mths. What type of sleeping bag do I need for her? Will a 'normal' 2.5tog slumbersac be enough. can't seem to find 'proper' ones for babies.
