After lurking here for sometime, we decided to go and 'look' at tents the other night.

We are now the proud owners of a quechua 4.2 xl Grin

As we only have a smallish car, I need to look at storage solutions. We used to cope fine squeezing 2 adults and two kids in the car with all our stuff for a week at a hired caravan but now the tent takes up all the boot space!

So, this morning I have been looking at roof racks. Our lower cost holiday plans are starting to get expensive.

As an alternative to the traditional roof racks I have been looking at the strap on roof bars. I'm not keen on the inflatable ones but I'm now considering the xrack rackinabag or the northcore soft rack. Does anyone have any experience of these or have any better ideas for transporting the tent on short journeys?

Can't answer your slecific question but we've just bought some roofbars on ebay and are renting a roof box for our holiday the week after next.

We've been borrowing MILs huge 4x4 so far bit do not want to be dependent on it and can't afford bars and a box right now.
