hello. We are camping for a week in summer in France and I now realise that most of my summer wardrobe is linen...now, I fully embrace the whole 'I am camping and enjoy not making such an effort' but at the same time I don't want to look like a crumpled up heap, esp as we are planning to do a few day trips.

What do you all wear? Looking for something to keep me cool, relatively stylish, that can be thrown in a bag and emerge looking relatively ok...

any pointers???! thanks

go shopping the day before your day trip in shorts and t-shirt and buy something for the following day. Grin

Tis amazing how I manage to pack for everyone else but forget certain essential items for me - 8 years into camping and DH hasn't twigged yet!

Try go outdoors or similar for cropped trousers or shorts in a non crumpling material (also quick to hand wash and dry!)
Maxi (hippy!) skirts.
Maxi dresses too?

shirazplease · 10/07/2013 20:09

Agree with maxi dresses. I've got one that's a gypsy style one, so lots of gathered fabric so doesn't show creases.

Always feel smug on a campsite in it Grin

Shorts, vest, cap. Jeans, hoody, peaked beany. Depends on weather.

I imagine myself wafting around the campsite in hippy dresses and leggings. I end up in old cord trousers and wellies.

Brilliant, thanks everyone...definitely think that less is more and loving the reality check from attheendoftheday!! now I just need to grow 10in to not drown in a maxi dress and find some legs that look ok in shorts...Wink.

But I take an iron and a wardrobe! I don't have OCD about creased clothes honest Am I not doing it right? Does this mean I now HAVE to buy a bell tent and bunting? Smile

My staple wardrobe for camping is:
Vest tops
Long leggings for cool evenings on site
Cropped leggings to wear under a short denim skirt
Linen trousers
Hoody with zip
Shortish shirt style dress in black or navy which can be worn for sight seeing or nice shopping
Shorts
Crocs or flip flops
Sandals
Vans or converse style shoes
Tea shirts
White loose short sleeve cotton shirt to wear buttoned or unbuttoned over vest top
Bikini
Swimsuit
Bright patterned maxi dress as patterns don't show creases as much
Hat
Sunglasses

Hope this helps x
