...just this morning I have ordered one of these: www.hookedonglamping.co.uk/table.html to glamp myself a la this: bellsandlabs.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/bell-tent-clamp-table.html

And two of these: www.millets.co.uk/equipment/112889-vango-eye-light-light-green.html (one green one orange - quite practical, but still).

And I am only barely able to resist clicking 'buy' on this: www.millets.co.uk/tents-camping/62002020-eurohike-tepee-meadow-floral-10-man-tent.html - only £102 with the extra 15% off - it would make such a lovely playtent for DD (my excuse).

At this rate, I won't actually be able to afford to go camping - I will just have to sit at home admiring all my stuff.

How can I stop this? Would ordering a pair of hard-core camping death socks be enough to bring me to my senses?

You've got it bad.

I prescribe a pair of sexy striders and two hairstyle destroyers. They'll have you back to camping Sensible-Susan style in no time.

The passion-killing properties of the above would be only eclipsed by that your floral teepee, which I would doubtless find myself sleeping in alone as DH would flat refuse to go near the thing....

Daisybell1 · 10/07/2013 13:59

Wow I'm glad you posted this! I'm in a frenzy trying not to name my tent and resisting buying pretty plates to match the canvass.

I feel much better now Grin

shirazplease · 10/07/2013 14:00

haha MPFT! I first read the subject too quickly and read that you were 'glamphobic'! To which I thought 'with that chandelier?!?!?'

shirazplease · 10/07/2013 14:03

OMG MPFT, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!!!!

I NEED the table and the teepee. NEED I tell you!!!!

Wish DDs birthday was sooner....

PeterParkerSays · 10/07/2013 14:13

ooh, our Blacks has the eurohike teepee. It's lovely. DS and I were admiring it a few weeks ago. DH will have nothing to do with it, with it being white and floral and girly, so we can't have one. Sad

MummyPigsFatTummy · 10/07/2013 20:49

Vivipru Grin - those sandals really are the embodiment of anti-sex appeal in one little leather package aren't they? Sadly I do already sport the head torch look, my only nod to non-glampiness (apart from head to toe thermals, of course).

As to the passion killing properties of the floral teepee, see above re thermals - a floral tent is unlikely to make matters worse.

shiraz - I apologise profusely. That table really is almost irresistible isn't it? The teepee though - I expect it is only reduced so much because no marriage could survive its purchase.

Admittedly, I do have a distinct advantage in our marriage, in that DH, is as much into the glamping as I am. HOWEVER, the budget for this years holiday is out of control already. We could easily have spent less on a fancy cruise around the Caribbean...

It's an investment though, isn't it?! Hmm

ViviPru · 10/07/2013 21:04

Head to toe thermals are a must. Mine have added sex appeal in that they came from Aldi.....

Pimpf · 10/07/2013 21:10

I love that table!

attheendoftheday · 11/07/2013 00:00

I'm with you! I've only recently embraced my inner glamper, but it's like opening a flood gate. Just done our first camping week with all my little glampy accessories, and they did, as I suspected, improve my holiday.

The table is lovely. If I got one we would have to get a 5m bell to go with it...

MummyPigsFatTummy · 11/07/2013 11:03

It is an investment, yes shiraz . Not at all frivolous. In all fairness, DH is also a fairly enthusiastic glamper (and loves all things gadgety too). Our flagpole was entirely his idea and I was a bit Hmm and now love it. However, whilst he was surprisingly sangunie about the floral teepee, I am not sure if he would have been prepared to have slept in it on a campsite.

Oh Vivipru - Aldi thermals - I bet you are irresistible!

Daisybell - give into it. You will in the end anyway - we are all testament to the power of pretty accessories. I never thought of naming the tent though - may have to give that some consideration - DD would love it.

attheendoftheday - you are so going to end up buying a bell tent aren't you? Grin

attheendoftheday · 12/07/2013 00:28

Not this year! Dp has always wanted a vw camper, I'm trying to convince him that a bell tent is just as lovely (and a good bit cheaper).

Daisybell1 · 12/07/2013 07:35

Now she's here (my old lady tent) I'm going to have to embrace my inner glamper. I need to work out how to put it up first though....

SalomeD · 12/07/2013 08:19

Daisybell, if it didn't come with instructions try this link:

khyam instructions

Just take your time and if you start getting frustrated with it, go in, have a nice long cold drink and then try again!

Daisybell1 · 12/07/2013 08:47

Thank you, that's helpful. Its all very straight forward but we've hit a bit of glitch. Because its the older, sturdier fabric, I can't lift the central dome to put it up. ARGH.

RoooneyMara · 12/07/2013 09:10

I see your tepee and I raise you this

I have not ordered one oh no

ViviPru · 12/07/2013 09:46

Haha Roooney that's just a Wendy-house for growed-ups!!

We are the complete antithesis of glamp. No vintage duckegg camper van for us, oh no, we roll in an industrial silver 2012 VW transporter, in place of the beautiful bell there's a 6-man nylon badboy with standing height throughout (complete with waterproof tent carpet) and all of our kit is as functional and aesthetically mute as a macbook. We're comfortable, dry and efficient. I think a bit of my soul just died Sad

RoooneyMara · 12/07/2013 09:57

Lol Grin

Btw is anyone after a 3 metre bell tent? I just got left some money and bought a 4 metre one, so our 3 is going spare.

It's only been used twice - once by us, and once by the previous owners for a wedding Smile It's a ZIG and the bottom has some muddy marks on it, but there's no holes or damage.
