Can anyone recommend a campsite in these areas, preferably an hour from SE London? We'd prefer somewhere with no dogs/dogs on leads only, and with some activities for children eg playground area. I've never been camping so not sure if something like this is out there or not!

Hi Silver there are loads of sites to choose from, say in the Tunbridge Wells area - Forgewood, St Ives Farm, Dernwood Farm (not been there), Manor Court Farm, for example. Not sure how many of them have a playground area though. We have been to Forgewood recently and the children just play together in the field or head off into the woods and they love the freedom - that might be enough for them.

I know Park Farm near Bodiam Castle has a playground and also a very nice stroll along the river to a pub near the castle, but the site itself gets mixed reviews, although it has tightened up its rules recently so should be better (when we used to go a few years ago, it was a bit of a free for all at night). They allow campfires (as do all the sites I have mentioned).

Only thing is, I think all the sites above allow dogs, although they may need to be on leads. I am not sure as we don't have one nor does anyone I know.

if you go to ukcampsite you can search for sites that don't allow dogs.
