Cleaning out the water carrier

It's been in storage for the last year. How do I clean it so it's usable for drinking water?

Sterlize it with Milton. Rinse thoroughly afterwards to avoid odd taste!

Good idea. I used fairy liquid but I guess that won't sterilise it....
