Broken Tent, repair or new?

My Vango Tigris 600 has been used about 6 times. First time the wind straps inside broke - but no big deal.

Camping last week and the strong wind managed to break off a guy rope and 4 tent poles.

I know the poles are easy to replace, but I'm just thinking that I'm a single Mum and while people will normally help, maybe an easier tent to put up would be an idea

was thinking of: this decathlon pop up family tent

So I'm not sure whether to go for it and accept that I've had my use out of the other, or try and repair and save the money.

What do you think?

Thats not great ninja. if you go to a camping shop you might find that they have some spares. I was at our branch of Winfields the other day and they had a huge box full of odd poles, dont know if you would find 4 the same though.

Next time you go try if you can to pitch with the lowest part of the tent [usually the bedroom pod end] into the wind. That way the wind can funnel up and over your tent instead of hitting it on the flat side.

Pop ups are good in the wind if you peg them out well, they do look as if they are going to collapse but as soon as the gust is gone they pop back up again.

A bit scary at times but no broken poles.

-I have found replacement poles online and they're really cheap, so I can dio that. Not sure about reattaching the guy rope.

There wasn't any wind when I pitched and (luckily) it just started as we were packing away. I just couoldn't get all the stuff out of the tent in time to take the poles out, but I may check the eweather forecast and take a compass next time!

I'm keeping the pop up tab open on my computer to keep my options open ....

How old is your Vango? It shouldn't destroy itself so quickly - my much older model has been in a number of howing gales and suffered no damage. If you were using it correctly I would contact Vango or the shop where you bought it and complain!

The wind was pretty bad and we were pitched in just the worst direction - there was only me to take it down and I just wasn't fast enough :( It was definitely pitched correctly
