Would I be mad to do this? (camper van question)

I fancy a short break Devon/Cornwall and considering hiring a camper van - no idea what sort, but not a dedicated classics person, so open to all suggestions. I'm mid 50's and just want to get away on my own! Happy to rough it in normal tent, but somehow would feel safer in a camper van.

Does anyone have suggestions for hiring near Leicester/Rugby/Coventry please? Where can I go and stay overnight - does it have to be a registered site or can I literally park down a country lane or on cliffs overlooking beach etc?

Hi! We hired from here in Leicestershire.

We headed down to North Norfolk and had a great time. I agree with the above poster about checking everything and be extra careful! Ds managed to split the seat cover somehow so we had a nasty bill for that Sad

Have you thought about collecting the van actually in Cornwall/Devon to reduce petrol costs?

Google wildcamping for motorhomes, loads of info
Get one thats van based and not a bigger coach built as its much easier to park, we have a Mazda Bongo and love it
