Isle of Wight site recommendation?

Can any one reccomemded a lovely site? We will need loos and showers and like quiet/ tranquil sites, with pitches not too squashed together! Would love some tips, thank you!!!

We stayed on Compton Farm which is on National Trust land. Very quiet, kid friendly. There are showers/loos but not much else in the way of facilities. It's a really beautiful location :)

Wow Kiri, that is EXACTLY what we had in mind, we prefer basic if it means a quieter site!!!!

Oh good - so pleased! It really is a lovely place. Yes, the beaches are great and the one near the campsite is good for fossil hunting.

There's a model village and Shanklin Chine, boats and pony ride type stuff. It's a good place to go with small children - I love the Isle of Wight, it's like stepping back in time :)

I can recommend Heathfield Farm which is quiet and spacious.

Our favourite day out was at Steephill Cove, but we also did Osbourne House, Alum Bay, Robin Hill as well as pottering.

Another vote for Compton Farm here. We stayed there for a week last summer, and it was lovely. The beach near the campsite is heavenly, and the whole campsite vibe is really chilled. While we were there, there were a batch of other campers who come every year, meet up, and spend several evenings sitting round a campfire together, or getting out a guitar and doing an impromptu all-comers talent 'show'.

I've stayed at Beaper Farm twice, think both times it was August Bank Holiday weekend, plenty of space, clean showers and toilets, a small camp shop on site. Between Shanklin and Ryde IIRC.

Have you tried Tom's Eco Lodge? www.tomsecolodge.com it has a 5* review on here and is perfect for all the family. What is better than camping but having your own bed, shower and running hot water? - based on a farm not only is it healthy and ecological, it is also educational! My Sister and Nieces stayed there and they loved collecting the eggs in the morning from their rescue hens (they once were battery hens) I have heard some fantastic reviews from family's and many have booked to return this year. Great as well if you want to go to the IW festival or Bestival but don't want to get too stuck into festival life.

Chine farm isn't far from Compton arm but is right on cliff top. Does get windy, but you can hear the sea from your air bed......can walk from the site to a pebbly beach, but there are plenty of beautiful sandy ones elsewhere on the island.

Whitefield Forest is a great site and a good location if you are touring the island. Isle of Wight is fab.
