We usually do France. But last year we couldn't go away as I was ill. We sent youngest Dd to Italy with the mates we sometimes go away with and she loved Italy.

We will spend a but mire than usual and have considered renting house but I love to camp! So, any recommendations? We could drive, catch train or fly. Last two would probably mean we'd hire car in Italy.

We are family of 5 (19, 17 & 14) but with probability of boyfriend/ girlfriend coming with eldest two.

We could have set up tent plus small tent for eldest plus bf. Eldest Dd may only stay one week as she needs ti earn money for uni!

We like water and watersports. Cycling and walking. Lakes are very appealling. Not so keen on boiling hit Tuscan towns with hit grumpy kids!

Look at the Cool Camping Europe book, we stayed at the one that's in there on Lake Garda and the one near Florence and both were lovely, We stayed out of season so it was lovely and quiet (in fact it was difficult to find places still open and it just happened that the ones that were open are also in Cool Camping), generally I would say that the sites in high season would be busy and the pitches small so it could feel cramped.

Look into the motorail you can get ferry to Calais drive a couple of hours and then get train ( with car!) overnight o Italy. On my wish list but need dd to be a bit older I think ( will be 2 in summer)
