campsites near London?

I just got back from 2 nights at the most noisiest campsite, in Waltham Cross I should have known better as it is by M25. (Maybe it's OK in a caravan//camper)

A few weeks ago stayed at a lovely site in Ivinghoe that was fairly quiet apart from the planes going into Luton.

So, just wondering if anyone knows of any quiet sites closeish to London.

Thanks bb. Just read a few of the reviews - noise too.

The lovely site in Ivonghoe was about 1hr from me (near Wembley), so can travel a bit further. Just really want a quiet site not too far!

Have heard good reviews about the C&CC site at Hertford but not been myself.

Henley - Swiss Farm or Hurley. Both would be about 40 mins from Wembley. Both quiet sites.

Debden House is good, although they weren't answering the phone last time I tried to book.

Are you wanting a London campsite so that you can visit London? Or a quiet campsite a short journey away from London?

If you want somewhere in london and can avoid the school hols try the South London Scout Centre - you don't have to be a scout to use the site, it is between the v quiet Dulwich Village and woods so is not noisy. [http://www.slsc-thefort.org.uk/index.php here]]. The website and pictures don't sell it at all - the camping field is very nice.

Otherwise have a look on CampsiteUK and use the map search facility to see sites outside London but not too far from you. Try the smaller woodland sites. Kitts Farm / Welsummer / Palace farm...
