If storage space/ weight is an issue, I can recommend Little life travel cot - we had one and it was brilliant, truly portable and packed away to nothing. www.littlelife.co.uk/html/out_and_about/arc-2-travel-cot.html this is similar, but not quite the same as we had a few years ago, ours had a zip-off top you could leave open, the new one seems to rely more on the side access - you could use them outside too, to keep the sun off and bugs out. Or there are a number of similar pop-up style travel cots on kiddicare (Koo-di seems to be the manufacturer) which look like they might work well in a tent, may be a bit short? The Little Life one was a good length so worked for travelling with our ds until he was in a proper bed.

travel cot

I used a travel cot, an extra blanket on the bottom, normal vest & PJs, a JoJo all in one fleece suit, wellie socks and then popped inside normal 2.5 tog sleeping bag, with optional extra blanket. It wasn't vey warm in May (!) but this did the trick. Although toodler of 22 months not a 7 month old. But I think the same/similar would work.

If you can possibly take a travel cot then they are very handy, not only for sleeping but also as a playpen... Take a waterproof picnic blanket as well and have those on the top of the boot so if it's raining when you arrive you can chuck baby in cot with toys and blanket keeps the rain off whilst you but the tent up.

Also very handy later on when you have a toddler / crawler and you're attempting to cook on a gas stove / hammer in tent pegs etc.
