And look at the weather?! Think it might be a washout.

As long as there are some other kids to play with DS should be fine in his waterproofs and wellies, just me and DP to work about.

Think I might be fine with some Magners and a book or two? Grin

Feel jealous - had 5 wonderful days there recently (admitedly the weather was fab). Have you been before? It was our second stay and already we can't wait to go again next year.

We spent ages building a huge den in the woods and it was exactly what we all needed - a complete change of scene.

Hope the weather isn't too bad, and you manage to get a campfire going!!

muchostinky · 15/08/2012 22:19

Thanks fridays yeah we have been before - last year for 3 nights and then too the weather was lovely.

I am dreading if the weather is bad as the pitches are quite far apart and how will DS find anyone to play with?

I think we will probably book for next year again too as the campfires are idyllic and DS has found some huge marshmallows that he is dying to roast!

My fingers and toes are crossed!!!

The forecast is showery - who knows it migh tnot be so bad!!

We had a great pitch - in the 3rd pasture but as close as you can get to the 2nd pasture (and their facilities, as it's a shorter walk). In fact when we got home, we realised we'd pitched in the spot they show on the cool camping website/book - so a pretty good choice I'd say! Smile

Although getting the wood delivered is great I discovered that the petrol station down the road just behind Sainsburys does bags much cheaper - although having to barrow it down the hill is not so great!!

I really hope you have a great time. I'll be thinking of you.

pimmsgalore · 16/08/2012 20:02

Leave your pombears out and I will bring you some wine to help you cope with the weather, which is going to be great Wink

muchostinky · 16/08/2012 23:31

We need a mumsnet sign pimms or a secret handshake of some kind. We will be the ones with the huge blue Lichfield tent, the out of control 5 year old DS and the bright orange Iceytek!

We were just by the loos on the 2nd pasture last time fridays which was very handy for my nighttime wees after too many ciders! DP would like to try somewhere else tomorrow though and to get a lift up and down in the mule!

Think the mule is out of order, was when we booked on Monday. We are the couple escaping from 4DCs for 2 nights will be there from Sunday to Tuesday. We will however have a crazy black dog with us Grin

Shame we aren't bringing DCs as our youngest is 5 so would have had someone to play with.

FourArms · 17/08/2012 10:04

Heavy rain this AM (we live ten miles away) so bring waterproofs & wellies. Meant to improve for w/e though!

muchostinky · 17/08/2012 10:33

Oh god, no mule?! That is going to be awful! DP nearly killed himself with those wheelbarrows up and down the hill 25 times, he is not looking forward to it now! My fingers are crossed.

We will have our dog too pimms, he is also crazy! I am sure you will here 'No Frankie!' a lot from us. Grin

Thanks FourArms, DS' waterproofs and wellies are packed, wellies and raincoat will have to do for me and DP.

Much when you here us shouting MMMMAAAAAXXXX or hear some mad woman blowing her whistle frantically you will be able to come over and introduce yourself Grin

fourarms we are not worried about the weather at all we are just happy that my parents are having the DCs for a couple of days, it could rain cats and dogs and as long as I don't hear "mummy I'm bored, he hit me etc etc" I will be happy Grin

I love thistledown! Although, make sure you do tic checks on everyone, both me and my DH got one there last year and had to have them removed. I guess I should have figured out to be careful in the long grass because of there are deer in the woods. That place is awesome, my kids loved it! Although we did struggle to find days out in the area which weren't simply walking. Would love to hear what you all got up too as we hoping to go again.

poppyboo · 19/08/2012 07:59

Oh, and we camped in the pasture with the wooden mushroom, there were loads of kids playing there! My kids just went off and played while me and DH relaxed!

muchostinky · 20/08/2012 15:27

We are there Pimms, although am current in Stroud stealing some cafes wi-fi, where are you? DP says he heard the whistle - I will come and have a look when we get back!

We are close to the mushroom poppy, need to be near the loo.

Will update again later in the week when I can find a signal
