Tent, trailer and holiday insurance

We are going to France next week and have just realised I never got around to sorting out insurance. I have found a company that does combined holiday and tent insurance, but it only covers camping gear up to £500 and won't cover DH as he has asthma. Never had an attack as preventative meds work. Will phone tomorrow to see if they can adapt the policy but wondered where you got your insurance?

We are also hiring a trailer which is covered on car insurance whilst being towed but not once on site. Has anyone managed to find insurance for a hired trailer?

not sure how hiring situation works - don't you pay insurance as part of your hire cost?
we use caravan club insurance on our tourer, not expensive at all :) but no idea if it would be suitable for you - also read today that camping and caravanning club do insurance for trailers/campers/trailer tents. sorry if none of this is any use...

Thanks for your reply. DH sorted trailer and when he asked about it was told car insurance would cover it. Will get him to check. Looked at CCC insurance but will need to join @ £50 plus the cost of insurance so works out expensive. Wouldn't use CCC sites as our tent is too wide for std pitch and larger ones too expensive.
