We'll be taking DS on 2 week holiday to Corfu in May (counting the weeks!) and am wondering wether we should fork out for one of those beach mini tent things to keep him out of the sun. He'll be 8 months old when we go.

that would be great - i'm very keen! Is it a 'shake and it pops up, twist and it folds back' type thing? is it pretty straightforward as dh is pretty useless with complicated engineering bless him!

lol yes it is, dh carnt do it, will addmit i didnt try befor i went to beach when it was time to put a away, we had a extra half hour on beach, everyone was laughing around us, but once you done it its easy, ( we made some good freinds on beach with that)

Holymoly321 · 10/03/2006 16:15

Hi Trace,
DH wants to go for one with a zip up front so that DS could fall asleep in it. Thanks so much for looking though. If you still wanted to sell it, have you thought about putting it in the'Sale' section on MN? THink it would be snapped up!

no problem, putting on e-bay, its got bits of velcrow,to fastern front on

mojomummy · 10/03/2006 20:52

Ours in an open one, so doesn't get hot inside - I imagine you may cook your little one if you zip him in it !

We did not bother. We picked sun loungers in the shade and when DD slept we put a towel over her buggy.

Janbo25 · 10/03/2006 21:14

we did have one but found that because the wind is up on the beach our poor ds constantly had sand blown into his face so in the end we opted for a sun bed and a umbrella to himself!

MerlinsBeard · 10/03/2006 21:39

I've not read all the thread but NOOOOOOOOOOO don't do it!!

We were given a large nivea one and it was a right faff. Put it up on the beach and no one sat under it, ds2 was a newbie so figured he could sleep in it and i could try and make my post birth bloat look a tad nicer with a tan. nope, ds2 screamed for 2 hours so we gave up and went home. or at least that was the plan. spent the next hour (i kid u not) alternating between holding ds2 whilst running after ds1 while the other 1 of us struggled with the blasted tent thingy trying to fold it up. we were offered help by a lovely couple but it never happened so ended up just dumping the stuff in the upturned tent and dragging it back to the car whre we just squished it in the boot. its still in the shed ready to burst open the second i need to go in there

think i'll get a parasol next time and a windbreaker!

swedishmum · 10/03/2006 22:29

This has reminded me to put mine on ebay - it only came out once (when no. 4 was 5 months) and she screamed and screamed! We have a bigger shelter which is more useful especially on windy beaches round here!

MummyToToby · 18/03/2006 13:43

we have a sun sense one which i got for £15 off ebay. it pops up and folds down really easily into a small circular carry bag. couldn't do with it!
