Anybody camped in Shetland?

Not barking. Cold, perhaps. And skint. How are you planning to get there? It's not cheap. Or easy. Have a look at western isles. Much more accessible and beautiful, IMVHO. Shetland is quite...bleak. But the people are lovely.

Drive to Aberdeen, then ferry.
Western isles fair enough, but I have this dream of seeing Shetland! Even orkney doesn't cut it! I thought camping would keep the price down!

Would you go as a foot passenger on the ferry, or take a bike? You could rough camp in Shetland, and it hardly gets dark in the summer. I'm sure there used to be a MNer from Shetland who could tell you more.

We'd take the car! I don't do bikes, and I definitely don't do rough camping! I do tent, cooker, duvets, camp beds, heaters, electric hook up...
