We have hook up, is it a good idea or not?

And there was me thinking coming back to a pot of Stew and fresh crusty bread after exploring the wild and windy countryside sounded about right :o

Most campsites stress that hook ups are for essentials and not normal kitchen applicances - makes the electrics trip.

Plus would you really leave a slow cooker on all day in a tent???

No, you're not strange at all. We used to take ours when we were camping in this country. It's lovely to come home to a dinner that's already cooked and all you have to do is to the rice/pasta/bread. If you have room, then take it.

I took my halogen oven this week. Was amazing!

Right it's going then, I know some of the fun of camping is the cooking, we will do some bbqs etc but as it's me and a mate and 5 kids I think some nights an easy option will be great......especially as it's forecast to pour down

We've taken ours in the winter. Nothing beats coming back after a long day hiking in the cold to a hot homemade meal.

Yep, I take mine! They don't use much in the way of electrics and homemade stew and dumplings are just the ticket when you have been wet and cold all day.

Wouldn't camp without ours. Cooked breakfast in the morning, then use the pan to brown meat for whatever is going in the slow cooker. Absolutely love coming home to dinner all ready! Like others have said, electricity use is minimal and completely safe.

You lot are bonkers! I mean that in a nice way! My camping usually involves as much instant food as possible. The kids adore 'camping noodles' with cashew nuts for protein and whatever veg I can lay my hands on

If im camping with a hook up then the slow cooker goes too! The joy of not having to do anything else other than dish out the food after a long day of hiking or activities is just so nice.
And as we tend to camp off peak for cost reasons the slow cooker can be a godsend for a hot meal without any fuss. Just break a crusty loaf up and put stew/curry or whatever else hubby has cooked in it into bowls.

I think it must save money on gas too. I'd normally have bought a new bottle for our trip last wk, but with elec kettle & halogen oven, the cooker only got used for pasta.

I even took an Indian ready meal! Was lovely!

Wonder how much elec the actifry would use.....

We took ours for the first time this year whe we camped during June half term I the atrocious rain and gales.

It was lively to come back to a proper , hot and filling meal each night.
