Ok, so not camping as such...but close enough lol Ive a Peugeot 307 S Hdi (1398cc 5dr) - can anyone tell me if theyve used this type of car to tow a caravan? If so, what make/model caravan was suitable for towing? Thanks!

Good website uktow.com and you put your car in and it tells you which caravan will work

It's usually 85% of the cars unladen weight - Autotrader says a 307 is 1300 kg which would be 1105kg

Thanks Furball Smile excuse my ignorance but does that mean I should look for a caravan that weight? Will check out that website Smile

It means that 1105 is the very most that you can tow; this means the caravan when it's packed with all your stuff, too. You also need to look in the handbook at the most weight your car can tow. Some cars are only allowed to tow much less than 85% of their unladen weight (some Zafiras are like this). 1105kg is not very much at all. You'll need an old, small, light caravan. Newer caravans have more gadgets and that all adds weight.

I hope you manage to find one that meets your needs. Have you thought about a folding camper? We've got one of those; it might not be quite as convenient as a caravan, but weighs much less and is much easier to tow as it's not so high. There are loads of different makes. Try checking them out.

Thank you! Beginning to wonder if original plan may be better, swap the 307 for a Bongo, cheaper tban changing car and buying caravan...just fancy the convenience of it...decisions decisions!!
