Going to Latititude but won't be able to arrive until Sat morning-have booked family camping and have a two man pop up tent-will we be able to find ANY places to camp? Any advice gratefully received.

It will be packed, however with a teeny 2 man pop up (is it one of these?) you might be able to squeeze in somewhere - we found that there was more room closer to the festival site entrance (more noisy) and right at the entrance from the camper van park to the family camping (furthest away from facilities) - it was the area in the middle by the loo blocks and the coffee shop that filled up instantly.

Unfortunately a lot of people travel in groups and then build fences with windbreaks to ensure a free area in between their tents, thus taking up a lot of room

Thank you so much for all those useful info Lovecat.Yes it is a teeny tent , am now going with a friend who has tiny tent too, just hope the sun shines!

I'm off to Latitude, going tomorrow afternoon. If I see a space, I'll try and stick a message on here and you can PM me to find it!

ArcticRoll · 11/07/2012 22:25

Thank you so much fannybazaar - god I hope it isn't just a sea of mud by Saturday !

Sorry to be a party pooper but I live near Henham and the weather here is forecast to be bloody awful this weekend. You might be better off sleeping in the car. Just make sure you bring plenty of wet weather gear.

Mind you last weekend was also supposed to be wet and Saturday was lovely so good luck and have a fab time!

ArcticRoll · 12/07/2012 16:52

thank you ilovemydog- pouring with rain here and somehow the thought of camping is not appealing....

I'm also v close to Latitude - it's been a much better day here, even sunny and warm at times! Travel chaos is already decending though.......

Aargh 'descending'

NotWilliamBoyd · 13/07/2012 10:00

Ok, sorry, lots of rain last night.

Prepare for mud and lots of rain and anything better will be a nice surprise!

They've been chugging round with lots of tractors putting out woodchippings in car parks etc.

good luck!

I'm going to Latitude later today - family camping too - I hope we can find room for our 5 man tent and extension. Does anyone think that might be possible? If absolutely necessary we can travel home everyday, but I don't think that's the point really!

NotWilliamBoyd · 13/07/2012 10:36

I think that usually tents are really squeezed so space could be a problem. However, I wonder if some people will stay away because of the weather?

I really think that taking an extension is overly optimistic, but then I don't go to Latitude, just drive past all the time as part of my boring life! Smile

PeskyPiskie · 13/07/2012 10:43

Thanks NotWilliam. The tent itself isn't too big (but there are 8 of us going) so I was hoping for the extension as somewhere to be dry! Oh well, I think DH, DSis and DNiece will probably want to come home every day. That just leaves DD, DM and my other DNiece - we can easily fit in the tent without the extra. I'm sort of looking forward to it. My first festival (and my DM - who is 70!)

NotWilliamBoyd · 13/07/2012 10:45

I guess take it with you see?

Good luck with it all anyway,

It's stopped raining now.......... Smile

PeskyPiskie · 13/07/2012 10:51

Stopped raining - its a miracle! (I just realised that if you added up the people I referred to above it was only 7 - I missed out DS Blush - you can't usually forget him Grin)

NotWilliamBoyd · 13/07/2012 11:10

Still not raining - just a gentle breeze which I'm sure will be drying everywhere out nicely (smiles encouragingly)

I'm guessing that you won't want me to say when if it does start to sprinkle a little rain liquid sunshine again???

PeskyPiskie · 13/07/2012 11:28

No thanks. Great for the updates though. I'm getting quite excited now!

NotWilliamBoyd · 13/07/2012 11:46

Enjoy!

ArcticRoll · 13/07/2012 16:14

Wonder what the weather's like there at moment....

Zippylovesgeorge · 13/07/2012 17:19

Apparently the site is getting lovely & muddy. Weather a mix of sunshine & showers - more rain tomorrow but Sunday should be ok.

FannyBazaar · 14/07/2012 08:17

Drizzle at the moment, lots of mud. Room for small tents.

NotWilliamBoyd · 14/07/2012 10:08

Ok, sorry to have to report that there was heavy rain here last night, grey and gloomy now with intermittent drizzle, as FannyBazaar reports.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 14/07/2012 16:40

Well it's been drizzling here for most of the day, although we did manage to get out after lunch and walk the dog (the one that i love) without actually getting wet. It did briefly hold off.

Can anyone tell us how it's looking down at Latitude?

How's it with you William?

NotWilliamBoyd · 14/07/2012 18:57

Keep wondering how they're all doing over at Latitude.
Tried to work out last night if I could hear it from my house, could hear something but it didn't seem likely as we are still about 5 miles away.

Heavy downpours here about an hour ago, but cleared up again now.

ArcticRoll · 16/07/2012 16:09

Thanks for all replies. After searching in sea of mud and tents found a decent spot in family camping-pitched in the dry and took down in dry , rained Sat evening . Had fantastic time - highlight was Elbow on Sat night- confirmed that Guy Garvey is absolutely brilliant and gorgeous. Will definitely book for next year and make sure I arrive on Friday .
