My family (husband, daughters aged 5 and 9)and I are hoping to go to France at the end of July, I've been looking at a number of flower camping sites and just wondered if anyone's used them before? And if so what did you think? Many thanks x

I've not been to any but spend a lot of time looking at the brochure Blush and it seems that the 'Flower' bit is the brand umbrella they all go under - a marketing franchise type arrangement - rather than their ownership so would expect each to be different. have you looked for reviews of any sites you like the look of on Zoover as well as Trip Advisor? Trip Advisor is a bit limted when it comes to campsites and Zoover, being Dutch, has much more campsite coverage. I am very tempted by Camping Les Iles in Beaulieu sur Dordogne, Les Peyrelades in Riviere sur Tarn and Les Ramieres in Drome but am incapable it seems of reaching an actual decision about where we're going to go.

Aha, camping les iles was at the top of my list along with le moulin De perie. However I've just been onto zoover (had never heard of it- thank you) and although there are lots of good reviews there are some bad too! Les iles sounds like it has two sites, I don't really understand the whole municiple thing! I'd be fed up if we were plonked somewhere not of our choosing! I seem to be like you cheerup, in capable of making any decisions! Dh is getting fed up with me! When are you hoping to holiday? Let me know if you find any gems and vice versa!!!

Hi Hattie. We'll be going in late August when it gets cheaper and we can use the ACSI card or camping cheques to make it even cheaper. This also means that we probably won't book in advance so that we can chase the weather and I can spend the next 6 weeks changing my mind about where we should go! I don't remember the reviews saying anything negative that bothered me about Les Iles, I thought they were all really good. Was it definitely the one in Beaulieu sur Dordogne?

Currently topping my shortlist are
Les peupliers riviere sur tarn
Val de cantobre
Les iles beaulieu sur dordogne
Port de limeuil
L'hirondelle menglon
La grenouille goudargues
Domaine de gaujac

I want peace, quiet, sun, river swimming and scenary. DH wants to be walking distance to town as he doesn't drive and kids (3 and 6) want paddling pool, swimming pool with small slides, bouncy stuff and other kids to play with.

I'm almost tempted to book just to put an end to my indecision!

We stayed on a flower site a couple of years ago (not one you've mentionned) and we were very impressed even though it was only 2 star.

It was quite a small site, about 100 places, and owners were always present and friendly
It was clean, pool was nice and it had all the necessary amenities.
It was a bit too quiet for our teenagers though.
