Get the Angela Bird Guide to the Vendee and have a look at her website....loads of himts and tips

calpopscalum · 25/02/2006 14:35

yeah, I ahd a look at the link you posted so thanks for that. Is it worth buying her book? We've been before but had lots of time to indulge in our pastimes as they wereboth in buggies and we could do shopping etc while they had day time naps!! NAe chance of that this year!!! that Puy du Fou looks fantastic!! Hope it's as good as playing on its web site!!

Puy de Fou is fab. We only went for the day...ours are too young to stay up for the night time. Things to note.

It is a long way....tokk us about 1.5 -2 hours each way.

It is expensive....but worth it IYSWIM
Take lots of water, hats and sunscrean as lots of the areas are without shade.

Plan your day to take in as many of the shopws as possble. Don't miss the roman one....chariot races, lions and tigers! Don't miss the medaeval castle seige either....totaly amazing

for younger kids have a look at

castle with a treasure hunt....well worth the day out, my two 8 and 5 at the time loved it Doidn't find so much to do at the castle in Talmont

A nice village to visit is apremont....nice castle, great river that you can hire pedelos, nice to picnic etc

We find angela Bird invaluable to find all sorts of non obvious things to do with the kids.

calpopscalum · 26/02/2006 14:36

yeah, we'd be there daytime too - quite fancy the evening sows but not with 2 fed uptired little people! never mind, glass of vino at the mobile sopunds just fine!! Showed the kids the brochure and I've been told that we're going and we're going to see the vikings and romans and that's it!!!
Thanks for your tips!

We loved the Atlantique water park with loads of slides etc. However your maybe a little young for that.

Blandmum · 26/02/2006 19:29

Is that the one on noirmoutier? Stunning drive over the causeway!

crunchie · 26/02/2006 19:31

The water park is between St Jean and St Hilaire I think. It was a 5 min cycle ride from Le Clarys Plage campsite.

calpopscalum · 01/03/2006 18:26

Ah crunchie, think that one is close to the camp site so will give it a go! They ove water slides even if they're a bit wee for the biggies, we're not!!! (Possibly we're too BIG for them but the diet is another thread!)
