Camping at 36 weeks pregnant- am I mental?

I have camped loads, so not a newbie. Although dh and I have never camped together. We have a 2.9 yr old. We were thinking of a weekend in Derbyshire in July, if the weather cheers up. The advantages are it is less than 2 hours from home, only one weekend, and we know the area fairly well.

But at this point I will be 36 weeks pregnant. I really, really want to go away- we haven't been on holiday for years and obviously my mat leave will be over the cold months (only taking 6 months).

We can't afford any other type of holiday. hmmmm.

Yes a bit mental, is there a maternity hospital nearby?

raininginbaltimore · 17/06/2012 19:48

Hadn't thought of that. DS was 5 days late, so never assume this one might be early.

Hell yeah! I camped in France during the last month of my 2nd pregnancy and cycled to the boulangerie every morning. Nice comfy lilo and feather duvets. Lovely!
Defo go!

I did, and it was great!

I had some spd and was using crutches at times, but i found that once I was in bed I slept better than at home. Just be careful not to drink too much during the evening as getting up in the night would have been a complete pita!

We were only an hour away from home.

lels99 · 17/06/2012 19:54

My biggest worry would be getting up from the air bed!

raininginbaltimore · 17/06/2012 19:55

:) Yay. Ok, well the plan anyway is to leave it and see what weather does and book last minute. It is only for 2 nights.

Wait and see how you feel closer to the time. It could be lovely.

I would pitch your tent near the toilet block Smile

Counting crows username?

Btw DD1 was 14 days late, dd2 was 1 day late. There's no rhyme nor reason!

raininginbaltimore · 18/06/2012 08:16

Yeah, counting crows!

I know they can be different, I just fully expect this one to be late.

Ds2 was 2 1/2 weeks late and ds1 arrived on his edd - I was fully expecting him to be late too!

If you're near Matlock, there's a highly recommend birth centre in Darley Dale!

How about buying a campbed likethis? Might make things easier and more comfortable.
