Camping food

Sorry, I'm sure this has been done to death but I'm suffering a severe mental blank...

Normally I would meal plan for a camping trip & take some ziplock bags with frozen spag bol, chilli etc but our next trip is in the USA (we live in Canada) so I am really limited in which foodstuffs I can take across the border. No meat products, fruit, veg etc. So basically I will be shopping once we're over the border & can't bring anything prepared in advance. We're camping in a very small-town-America type of place & the grocery store is quite limited.

To avoid a week of pasta with pesto I thought I would turn to mumsnet for inspiration. I'd be really grateful for any minimal fuss, minimal shopping but tasty meal ideas.

Thanks.

Hopefully you'll be able to buy sausages and potatoes - can slice the potatoes thinly and fry with the sausages (I've only got a one ring burner so am imagining all the cooking having to be done like this!)?

Bacon and eggs for breakfast or tea (or both!)

Tinned tomatoes + cheese with pasta as a quick pasta and tomato sauce?

If you can buy mince you can make a simple spag bol/chilli (are you allowed to take a jar of chilli powder?) with pasta

bread and cheese to make cheese on toast.

Tricky!!

Thanks Dot. Like the idea of fried potatoes - yum. Have decided to splash out & get a wok for the camping cook box so will attempt some risottos & stirfrys over the stove.

Pancakes for breakfast? (actually I would eat pancakes for every meal if I had the opportunity!)

No matter how basic a grocery store it is they're bound to have flour eggs and milk............
