We're in North Devon.
The forecast isn't good!
We've got an outwell Vermont L and Maryland XL.
What can we expect?!

Force 10 gale = 55 -63 mph it says... just watched it for you Wink

The hardest bit I think will be putting them up n the wind.

We erected our Kampa Filey 6 in high winds and it was a nightmare. I hurt my foot by standing on a metal peg in sandals and me and dh nearly got divorcedGrin

We gave up after one night because it was no fun at all! We did camp in the highest town in Sussex though in a very exposed spotHmm

Good luck if you do go for it. Delta pegs are very good.

I have been in a gale on a campsite

The only tents left standing were the frame tents, anything with carbon fibre sticks poles was gone

does that help? Grin

I suggest a travel lodge
I wouldn't do it again even with my frame tent, we bought a caravan the next year!

LOl YouveCatToBeKittenMe my mum and dad gave up on camping after half the tents blew away in gales near wells next the sea beach! Theirs was still standing but we never camped again and for the last 30 odd years they have been committed!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 07/06/2012 16:04

Oh crap

Committed caravanners

They are a bit mad but they've not been committed just yet!

We almost got divorced putting a tent up in the storm that washed Boscastle away! dd was at the paper eating stage, about 15mths & ate instructions too while ds squirted ketchup & smashed eggs in a friend of a friends tent that we'd put them in to shelter! How we laugh nowHmm!
Off to Exmoor tomorrow & keeping a keen eye on the forecast.

Thanks all, we survived last night but called it a day today. Tent is fine, but the noise was awful from the gales and torrential rain, so we're looking forward to a decent sleep tonight!
