Campsites where you can have open fires..

We are hoping to go camping in UK in August. We have a DD who will be 18mo and friends have 2 DS (3yrs and 9mo)

My DH thinks camping isn't camping unless you can build a fire!

We previously have been to WoWo in Sussex and for anyone that know's it - this is the sort of site we love.. laid back, hippy(ish) organic feel.

Kids will be fine at entertaining themselves at this age and simply would love a field a space type campsite - that allows fires.. preferably by the seaside, however, as close to London / Buckinghamshire as possible as that could be.. oh and without sounding like I have too much criteria too meet - I know there are places where there are chickens / farms etc on site this would be amazing bonus!

Any suggestions most welcome..

We stopped on one in Norfolk like you described. It was very large and a bit overcrowded though to be honest but was close to the sea and had lovely surrounding woodland to walk in. Will try and remember the name.

Forgewood in Kent is great. It's near Tunbridge Wells. Welsummer is supposed to be good too.

We have just returned from www.breckfarm.co.uk which is in North Norfolk. Campfires, cows, chickens and 3 hours from West London so maybe less for you. We loved it!

Soul Camp on Kent/East Sussex border has a similar vibe to WoWo but much smaller. It's basically a large field. They'll bring a fire pit to you and logs/wine/ beer. They restrict numbers so it's not really packed. They also keep it family orientated. They have a

Ewleaze Farm near Weymouth is great. Campfires allowed, free bales of hay to sit on and all on an organic farm with a shop and pizza place with animals wandering about. It's a farm all year round and just a campsite in August. My favourite bit is the enclosure with the farm dogs who have the month off and kids can take them for walks!

Stubcroft Farm may work for you; it's in West Sussex, not farm from Chichester, is a working sheep farm but also has chickens (and bee hives), the beach at East Wittering is accessible via a footpath and stroll through the 'town' and there are ecoloos! Open fires have to be set off the ground but they are very much permitted - we've just returned from a few days camping there and there were lots of open fires.

they both are fires in firepits as are farms as well- which is fine for me whereas I think wowo is on the ground, Britchcombe is fab - bit more basic bathroom wise than those two and I would also recommend a windbreak as on the ridgeway..

Eweleaze fab as long as weather not too bad - I love it but had shocking bad weather last time so turned into a bit of a quagmire...as its only open August we are trying the sister site in July this year...
