After many years of camping (not hardened campers but more like once or twice a year-ers) I've gone and lost my packing list. We're off to France next week and will be staying in a mobile home so our packing won't be too comprehensive. What could you not do without that I might not of thought of?

Cheese grater, I have never stayed in a mobile home with a cheese grater I would have used on the hard skin on my feet, let alone my families dinner :o

torch.

Gin. And a decent knife. And wet wipes.

French holiday places often don't have kettles, though they do often have coffee makers, so if you drink tea, take a camping/ stovetop kettle. And tea bags. Small bottle of washing up liquid to avoid having to buy a whole bottle there. Depending on how much cooking you're planning to do, I often take a box with small quantities of salt & pepper, stock powder, soy sauce etc. Towels including tea/hand towels. Decent knife a good idea.

Tin opener, and a dishcloth and teatowel. And toilet roll. And a corkscrew/bottle opener. First aid kit including scissors and tweezers.

ah, thank you! I had most suggestions but not toilet roll (!!!) and had sugar but not salt and pepper!!!

I'm sure my list will turn up after we get back, grrrr ;)

I can't get over using a cheese grater on your foot... even if there is one included, I don't think we'll use it now!!!!!

Ha ha kiwi I should probably clarify that I do not as a rule use the equipment in holiday lets for reasons of personal hygiene :o

I also remembered (though heaven knows why as I never remember to pack them myself) that a bath mat to put in front of the bath/shower is invaluable. We never have one, the bathroom looks like a swamp in the first day and we inevitably end up buying a cheap hand towel for the job (hence my large collection of mis-matched French hand towels!)

yes!!! Not to be forgotten - a bath towel. Thanks :)
