Talk to me about camping on sand

Looking at camping on the Dutch coast but a lot of the campsites we are looking at are on sand.

How do we anchor the tent, won't it just blow away? And will sand get everywhere? Any tips or warnings welcome.

We camped on sand in the South of France a few years ago. Tip is to have some kind of mat/carpet thing outside the tent so that you don't get so much sand inside the tent. You will have to sweep it out every day. Leave shoes just inside/outside the front door. Use longer pegs. Usually on a campsite it isn't sand like on a beach, but sand with plants running through it so that the pegs get more purchase.

Those big long wooden pegs are probably the best. Certainly something pretty long. There was talk of a sand delta, I wonder if wotshischops has invented it yet
