Just bought a folding camper - couple of questions

We've had a trailer tent for a few years and decided to upgrade due to my health getting worse and needing more comfort/warmth but nowhere to keep a caravan. I'm so excited about our new pennine folding camper - we pick it up on thursday, just in time for half term camping :)

Any of you with FCs, how does the whole water/waste thing work - we have bought an aquaroll and it comes with a waste carrier thingy - do we need some kind of extra hose to link the camper pump/hose thing to the aquaroll? We never linked up in the TT as the sink was too tiny to bother.

Also how much room is there to put stuff once all the wardrobes etc folded down - will we fit the aquaroll etc in there and is there room for extra stuff - clothes, bedding etc?

Hoping it isn't as faffy to put up as the TT - we loved it but it took hours to put up and always got dh grumpy Grin

Can't wait now!

We have a new Pennine fc too that we bought because of the time wasted faffing around with the trailer tent Smile. When we bought it we were advised to buy the hose which links the aqua roll to the pump. There is also a double hose which links the wastes to the waste hog but I think these were provided as standard.
With regards to storage we leave blankets and a few light bits and bobs in the wardrobe.Tv,cushions, side skirts, pegs,Scrabble and various other bits all fit in the under-seat lockers. The waste lays flat on the floor and the aqua roll fits in the bathroom when it's folded down (not sure if you have a bathroom). With a bit of practice you can get set up fairly quickly. We leave the fitted sheets in place and just throw duvets on when we get there. Have all the cutlery, plates, tinned food, kitchen roll etc. in the kitchen cupboards already so don't have to take a lot in the car with us. Campsite UK has a folding camper/trailer tent forum that has lots of useful information on it.

We love our lovely old camper. Can put up main part in 20mins. We leave bedding on beds and strap down, spare wheel, heaters, fridge and awning go in the trailer part.

Have got it and it's up and packed in our drive. It is fabulous. I love it and can fit so much in there - only have to sling some clothes and wash stuff in car in the morning and we're off - can't wait. Can't believe how quickly it goes up as well - the awning looks a lot easier than the TT awning too.

Where you off to?

We have an old-ish Conway Cruiser. There is a Whale pump that connects to the socket outside at one end and the other end is submerged in the water container. We don't use an Aquaroll as I found the shape was a PITA. I have a squarish one instead which makes it easier to pack around it.

Under the seats we have our pans, plates, cutlery etc. Plus BBQ, stools, groundsheet. It's still not full. Our wardrobe stores our fire bucket, throws, curtains and pillows. On the floor we have 4 chairs, awning, windbreak, water and waste containers and a table.

We find we only need to pack sleeping bags/ duvets, food and clothes in the car. Everything else we take stores in the FC and we don't have to open it up between leaving the campsite on one trip to arriving on the next.

Hope you enjoy it. We love ours. Off to the Loire Valley tomorrow but the forecast is rain every day. Sad Hurrah for the chateaux eh!?

I love the Loire, hope you get nice weather despite forecast.

We're off to Dorset, again weather looking changeable.

Hope you enjoy the break! The awning is a lot easier to manage than a tt and less poles so a lot quicker. What model did you get?

lisad123 · 01/06/2012 16:27

Madhair, where abouts? We are off to Longthorns Grin

Going to the Inside Park at Blandford, looks fab :)

Got a pennine sovereign 2002 model. It's lovely :)
