Last year, thanks to mn the dc's went to their first festival, we loved it and want to book another this year. We camp with the neighbours and their dcs so would love some recommendations. We are near Manchester, but can't do just so any ideas? Thanks

Any more recommendations I am stuck between Shambala and a local one to me called Festibelly ( i only have BH weekend with DH) thoughts anyone?

Oooh Billy Bragg is at Shambala - that may swing it - managed to catch the end of one of his sets a couple of years ago at Camp Bestival fab!!

FWIW Camp Bestival is very good for children but it is veering towards a bit more commercial every year imo (which is fine if you like that kind of thing). It is a beautiful experience though but I do feel the smaller activities get hidden by the bigger acts (e.g Zingzillas vs Ceildh/family barn dance).

Seriously, you want to go to Shambala. It is the best festival, for kids or for adults (and I've been to a lot of festivals). There are hot tubs...

Oh well if there are hot tubs I suppose I must!! actually decided 1 o clock in the morning to go - even decided my costume ( Hawaiian) - Does it all kick off on Thursday night with the music or is it more chilled? Also just wondering what camping is like we will be arriving lateish on Thurs will there still be space to pitch up?

Loads of space, really close to cars and festival, and lovely kind volunteers with wheelbarrows. Good music Thurs too. :)

I'm jealous.

I am taking DD (10y) to Wychwood tomorrow, along with Katz and her two DDs (9y and 7y). We went last year and it was great fun. Katz went year before too.
Mumsnet is one of the sponsors this year :)
