What to stand a single burner stove on

I've just bought one of those single burner stoves that run on a gas cannister to try for out weekend camping trips, just me, 2yo DS and our 11 yr old westie. It looks great, should be a doddle to operate. I'm just curious as to what I need to stand it on. Do I need a small table? Can I use it just on the floor, is that safe with a 2yo about? Do I need a camping kitchen stand thingy? I will be camping with car, a Ford Focus, so space is a little limited.

Any advice would be very welcome. What do the rest of you do with yours?

TIA

I would put it on anything other than the floor and stay with it all the time it is on. Boxes, camping tables and kitchen stands are all very easily knocked over by a small child or a dog. We have the same thing and use a kitchen stand on longer trips and a camping table on weekends when we cook on the table and then just move the cooking stuff when it's time to eat. If you will mainly be boiling water for hot drinks, it might be an idea to boil the kettle once and then keep the hot water in a flask.

You can put them on the floor (outside) but agree with cheerup that the main thing to be aware of is it being knocked over. We have one of these for our single burner or Cobb, that combined with a little wind shield makes it more visible to marauding feet.

Thanks both. Had seen a v.similar table in Go Outdoors last w/e and wondered whether to get one. Think I may have to go back this w/e tooSmile

slubber thanks for the advice re the small table thing. Have got one but now wondering which wind shield you have too. Have looked around online but not sure which one exactly would be best. Which one have you got?
