DH, DS1 and I camped in France two years ago, we stayed at Les Embruns in Brittany which was fab (super clean, great pitches, lots for DS to do). We are planning on camping agin this year after a year's break last year (DS2 was too young) but need some advice as DH keen on trying somewhere new ("the world's a big place...why would we go back to the same place?" etc Wink ) We'd planned on a UK camping holiday but this weather has made us rethink plans so France it is!!

Our wish list would be: swimming pool, close to beach, things for children to do (park etc), clean/good shower facilities, some good 'days out' places. DS1 will be almost 4 and DS2 18months plus me and DH. Ideally we want to do Dover/Calais crossing (cost related really!) and stay somewhere for a night in France if we need to to break the journey up.

Any help would be greatly received, DS1 is asking daily about going on holiday and the "we'll book it soon" response is becoming wearing!!

If a lake beach fits your wish list, what about here:

Perfectly doable with a Dover/Calais crossing, you could cross early evening stay in a Hotel Formulae overnight, then start off your journey in the morning, arrive in perfect time to check in, pitch tent and enjoy!
In my experience of France; Brittany, Vendee X2, Loire Valley, in land weather is much better.

take yourself over to UKcampsites website and do a search on there. There are reviews for hundereds of sites in UK and abroad loads in France. You will be spoilt for choice..
