Electric blankets, has anyone ever used one camping?

I would never have bought one, but won one at the weekend. I'm desperately looking forward to first camping trip of the year, supposed to be this coming BH weekend - but it is still very cold at night. Thought with a fan heater this might make nights bearable.

Has anyone every tried it?

Ya big ol' jessie! Just wrap up warm - electric blankets and heaters? Tut tut.

Total big damp jessie I confess. Would blame DDs and not wanting to ruin their love of camping but it's me. I do all the don't get cold stuff, but I find I that my mummy sleeping bag always winds awkwardly round and doesn't offer enough coverage for my shoulders.

I'm looking at
www.amazon.co.uk/SEASON-OUTDOOR-CAMPING-FISHING-SLEEPING/dp/B007S4R07W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1335811032&sr=8-3
so I can snuggle into DH and steal all his warmth.

I think your best bet is to wear a nice warm tracksuit or similar, socks, possibly a hat. Put a fleece blanket underneath you and a duvet (not a sleeping bag) over the top. You'll be as warm as a warm thing, honest.

First time I camped it was 6 degrees - our airbed punctured so we ended up sleeping on a cold floor using boots (don't ask) as pillows. Don't know how come there were subsequent camping trips Grin

I love the idea of an electric blanket!

Last time I camped it was minus 4! I really wished I'd brought an electric blanket Grin
