Will anywhere be dry enough to camp this weekend?

We had booked for 3 nights camping in Brean this bank holiday weekend, but they just have phoned to cancel as the campsite is waterlogged after all the poor weather. DH is really disappointed .... so is anyone having good (ie dry!) weather at the moment - or is it going to be the same everywhere?

Any recommendations of decent sites ideally in the South/South West/Wales/
Midlands.... that might have availability (and have an EHU!)

Or, have we had a lucky escape and should we just be sensible give up and stay home?

Weather forecast here in NW Kent/SE London is currently no rain Friday, a rediculous amount on Saturday, and a little bit on Sunday. Could all change though!

This is a good website for checking the forecast for the next 10 days. Just put in different areas and you might get lucky?!

Thanks for the link - I'll try that!

May just have to watch and wait.... We are all packed and ready to go last minute if needs be.

maaybe bit too far north for you but the 10 day weather for york is dry.......we're headed that way this weekend..............fingers crossed!!!

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 30/04/2012 20:22

Hmm it probably is - because we will only do 2 nights if we have to travel too far.... but York does sound nice. Hope the weather stays good for you.

We are going to thetford forest c&c this weekend. We phoned and checked yesterday and the ground is quite dry as its very sandy so drains away quickly. Forecast looks like a mixture of sun and light rain but again, it could all change!

Cheers TaffyandTeenyTaffy :o

Here's to obsessively checking the met office website for the rest of the week eh? :o

Hello ladies. We are booked in to River Dart, Dartmouth, Devon for 4 days this weekend. My concern is not that it will be raining... as much to do on the campsite etc... but more so that it has been non-stop rain for weeks and that the ground will be water logged.

I will be calling the campsite this morning and find out what they advise. I did ask when booking - if refunds are given, or new dates available should weather not be so kind Confused...no refunds, but we are able to reschedule. However, it is a 4 day weekend for us, bank hol and kids have Inset on Tuesday, plus this site has a special offer of pay for 3 nights and get two free!

I will try the weather link you provide too Peppermincreams - although I have 3 weather sites open already.... but! I am trying in vein and defeated hope, that one site might just say.... YEY...stinking hot sun... all is well.

Hmmm.... dream on Wolfie Grin

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 01/05/2012 21:59

Well, we have taken the plunge (hopefully not literally!!) and booked Woolacombe. Weather forecast looks ok - although I didnt mention the chance of snow overnight sunday to DH .... thats what heaters are for Grin.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

We've booked a campsite in Dolgellau for the BH weekend. DP is getting distinctly cold feet about the prospect!

hillbilly · 02/05/2012 10:19

We have decided not to go. Buckinghamshire is not getting above 10 degrees Sun or Mon.....

AngryFeet · 02/05/2012 11:37

We have paid and so have to go. Booked into Wowo in East Sussex with 3 other families. Forecast is shite and tbh I am dreading it a bit now. I could handle it without kids as we could spend most of the day in the pub but not sure what we will do in the daytime now.

hillbilly · 02/05/2012 11:55

Fortunately where we were supposed to go did not even require a deposit otherwise I'd be really pissed off.

AngryFeet · 02/05/2012 13:23

Well I have bought a cheap waterproof gazebo from B&Q just in case. Met Office is now saying no rain for the weekend though but I will believe it when I see it Grin. No sun forecast sadly but I will be happy as long as it is dry.

We're going to whitemead in The Forest of Dean with a load of friends. It's been booked since last year and as far as we know the site is open and we'll be off tomorrow after school!

Grockle · 03/05/2012 21:08

We're going to warrant. Should be fine... Brrrrr
