I can't believe the forecast! It's bad enough that DH won't camp under 20 degrees and we are supposed to be going on our first camp May Day weekend. Gutted Sad but I guess the upside is that the forecast is usually wrong Grin

Haha! You can but hope OP! :) We're holding off on booking for a bit, it's not looking good, is it?

Blu · 25/04/2012 21:29

Are you going to Breck Farm on Mayday w/e Hillbilly?

ENormaSnob · 25/04/2012 21:38

We want to go the weekend of the 11th but are holding off until nearer the time.

hillbilly · 25/04/2012 22:09

I am not a camper - but DS is going on his first cub camp over the may bank holiday weekend (along with about 800 other cubs I think) and so I hope it isn't too wet that weekend. Cub leaders said tonight it is quite near a river and there are evacuation procedures if necessary....

I went camping on May Bank Holiday weekend a good few years ago, some doubters suggested it may still be too cold and too early in the season, I of course, poo-pooed them. We went to Cornwall. There was an overnight frost, it was a bit damn cold. Not quite ready to consider it again.

Quenelle · 26/04/2012 10:25

We have been on the first May bank holiday a couple of times and the weather has been fine. When we have waited and gone at Whitsun it has been awful. It's just pot luck.

We are planning to go on the 11th too, also to Town Farm. I'm hoping things will have improved by then.

Hillbilly, I passed the site on Easter Monday, when it was windy, raining and cold. It's on quite a high slope and does look a little exposed. There were a couple of caravans and a bell tent iirc, all huddled in the shelter of a corner of hedgerow. That's the image I have in my mind when I think about camping there at the moment. Sorry Sad

My German and Italian colleagues tell me they have forecasts of 27-30Deg this weekend Envy

Baileyscoffeeandcampfires · 26/04/2012 19:01

We camped this weekend last year (royal wedding bank holiday) and it was blisteringly hot.

Still haven't had my first camp of the year although we are going to Weymouth on the weekend of 15 may.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 26/04/2012 19:13

It's my fault, my lovely new tent arrived on monday and it hasn't stopped raining since.

supernannyisace · 27/04/2012 08:28

I am not going camping but DS is with Scouts on the May Day weekend. For 3 nights too.

Am just going out to buy him some new wellies.......

MirandaWest · 27/04/2012 08:35

DS also going for three nights (you're not in yorkshire are you?)

supernannyisace · 27/04/2012 08:59

Yes - he is going to The Big Camp in Harrogate. Same one?

Oblomov · 27/04/2012 14:03

we are supposed to be going to Dorset 5th May. It is our first long weekend, of the caravaning season, where we check the caravan over, clean etc. But we only get the chance to do that, if the boys are off playing. And doing all of this in pouring rain, not just a bit of rain, but if its consistently pouring for 4-5 days. It's just MISERABLE. Lets be honest.
Last night, dh, who is normally the most upbeat, for anything, out of all of us, even, ........ suggested not going........ Shock

Grockle · 27/04/2012 20:49

We postponed our Easter trip due to health problems (and weather issues) and are due to go next weekend. Doesn't look good Sad
